Hey everyone, I recently wanted to purchase a 2001 Prelude SE. However, I pulled the carproof last night (holy fuck 68 bucks :() and there was one incident that was non-collision with a $9XXX dollars in damage figure but the insurance estimate data was only $16XX. Now my question is, what exactly is going on with this car O.O! I'm really interested in the car but the numbers have me worried or am I just reading the data wrong? Thanks :) Really appreciate the help

Probably a theft recovery. They paid out 9000 then recovered it with 1600 of damages.

Okay, here it is=] Thanks a lot. I just took a screen shot of the section as I don't want to expose the VIN because I don't own the car=] Hope this will provide more info, please let me know if there is anything I forgot to show here=D Thanks!

I'm fairly new to posting on this forum so I don't know how to attach more than one picture in one reply, so here is the next one

It looks like on 07/22/2009 They opened a claim on the vehicle, then on the 29th they ran a valuation to see what its worth.

Reads like:

it was stolen
they determined value
it came back before 30 days when they would pay out
It had damage
damage was estimated at $1,6xx.

Can't be sure though. Perhaps ask the owner?

Can't be theft cause it says Miscellaneous

And then Miscellaneous = incident to vehicle not involving fire, theft or collision :dunno:

Thanks for the quick reply everyone=] Ya, I am now looking for another one after the owner kinda gave me a take it or leave it comment when I asked for receipts of vandalism repair. The price was really good tho only 6.5K, too good to be true I'm sure. So if anyone is selling a 1997+ Prelude with low KMs, preferably auto and in good condition for around the same price, please let me know=] I'm still looking to shed some light on 9gs worth of damage O.o

@Tom_9109:

I asked the owner and just got denial so I guess I should stay away. I love the lude tho :(

why auto? Auto sucks on the H22 Lude's, it's absolute rubbish, gutless, and unreliable

I don't always trust these reports, they are kind of like your credit bureau and subject to whatever is entered in by whatever user. I see many many incorrect credit bureaus just because someone entered a wrong address, type of employment etc...

He's right though. The autos of these years are exceptionally prone to failure. You might save on the intial purchase, but you may pay for it soon after...
