I am building a new home. The builder is letting us do low voltage wiring. Standard is:
1 cat 5e and rg6 in the kitchen
2 cat 5e and 1 rg6 in each bedroom
I would like to do rough in for ceiling speakers in the Living room, kitchen, Master and Ensuite.
I am thinking 5 speakers in the living room for surround 5.1 and 2 in the other locations for stereo. For this I am thinking of running the cables from the speakers to where the remote for volume would be in each room and from there to the receiver location in the living room.

I have seen systems that control the volume controls by cat5e so I am also thinking of doing cat5e from the receiver to the volume control locations.

Does this sound good? What else would you guys add?

In our new home, we have the Control 4 system. It controls the entire house from powered blinds, lighting, theater, irrigation system, entry gates, surveillance system etc.
You can run multiple audio zones...possibilities are endless with a Control 4 system. Run your entire home from your iPhone
If you would like some good pointers, call Stu at 403-851-0112.
Here (http://www.homex.ca/index.html) is his website. Great guy and a plethora of information.

Control 4 (http://www.control4.com/) info

You are welcome to come out and see how the system works anytime for some ideas.

Cool system for sure and I will look into that when I move in. However I am wondering more on the wiring right now to make it cheaper and easier when I do want to integrate everything. Those light switch dimmers are pretty cool.
