my Car is recently written off 100% not my fault car was parked on the street.

I am waiting for the appraisal to see how much my car is worth.

the car is a 2006 Toyota Corolla XRS I have been shopping around and I can get one for around $17,000 +-

Plus I have $4000+ aftermarket parts on it with receipts.

Insurance is allowing me to take my aftermarket parts off.
and putting the factory stuff back in.

some items cannot be removed such as lowering springs and sound deadening.

I only want my stereo back and some of the aftermarket parts that were not damaged as I can put it in another replacement XRS.

should I leave the car as is or should I remove as much aftermarket parts as I can because I feel insurance will try to rip me off?

You should probably remove all of the aftermarket parts you can; does your insurance policy actually cover those parts? If not, they're under no obligation to offer replacement cost for your mods.

your getting 17k for it from an insurance company for an older corolla?

Im asking for 17k because I found some STOCK used ones for around that price...

its funny the 2005-2006 Corolla xrs are worth more then the new XRS 2010.

only 6600 were ever made in North America...

The car got left over 2zz-ge engines and trannys from lotus and Celica gts

So... the insurance company is giving you more because of the aftermarket parts, or no?

If not, then why would you *not* go remove them then?

They will likely pay you actual cash value for any add ons.

Lets be clear the actual cash value of add ons you paid $4000 for is likely around $1000.

When you look around and see some Corollas like yours for $17,000 do you see some for less too? you can't pick and choose which ones to use and comparables to determine fair value. You have to look at the whole market.

I found these 2006's. Judging by these 17,000 is possible if you have less mileage.

^^wow the likely cash value for $4000 is likely $1000 bucks

if that's the case I am better off pulling my aftermarket parts off.

well i guess ill be doing more research on getting a average current value of the car.

Basically they pay you what you'd be able to sell the car for in the market. What would you be willing to pay extra for 'used' stereo and other add ons? Its not that its unfair, its just that it is what it is. A consumer wouldn't pay you dollar for dollar for an insurance company won't either.

It does seem they are being very fair with you letting you take it off and I'm sure they will be fair with your value after that.

I'm surprised I never knew about the XRS. Who set up the suspension? The 2zz-ge is a really nice four-banger.

the factory suspension is setup by TRD.
the car is currently has megan racing springs on it.

anywaz the car is a total loss because the rear axle costs +3000 bucks to replace

td meloche monnex.

and the insurance of the other party that hit my car is td meloche monnex.

so i think there gonna rip us both off.

I would say take anything off that you can, anything you can't, just tell them and say you have the receipts for these upgrades.

I've never dealt with a write off in alberta, but in BC you can negotiate. you don't have to take the first offer. just may take longer to get your money

Pm'd OP. This car is probably repairable and the appraiser is possibly being lazy.

do you have the option to buy the car back? When I wrote of my turbo teg I bought it back for 10% of what they gave me for it. Then I stripped it bare
