Was down at Hyatt Mercedes today looking at a new toy and Neil was kind enough to let me see the new SLS that just arrived.
Sorry for the low quality pic and lack of more pics.
Neil said this one will be in their showroom for the next 2 weeks until the lucky owner pics it up if you would like to see it in person.
Amazing to see in person. This thing is a beast

198 start 225 loaded (mostly carbon fibre crap).

I had a chance to check it out earlier in the week. Not digging the rear end at all.

IMO it is an insta-classic already

Not only does it pay homage to the revolutionary 300SL, but it has just as staggarding performance figures, relative to current standards.

And all those carbon fibre bits caused huge delays in production time... want CF, wait. Want your car now, no CF for you!

Pity it will have to be using the crap streets in Calgary. If I had that car, it would sit in my livingroom.

Ok I know it's a wonderful machine and all. But imo, that is pure hideous, I don't care how retro it's supposed to be. Reminds me of a crossfire mated to a del sol with 997 wheels slapped on. Terrible. Hopefully it looks much better in person.

Crap, well you just ruined it for me haha. R8 is still my favorite in that category.

Yep but it wouldn't keep em on the road long - given the maintenance and repair costs on the new one :D And we wont even discuss the repair costs for the old one :D

I definitely don't like the front. The back is ok, but wouldn't be owning this car for looks, more for performance.

The looks of the car is definately going to stir up a lot of controversy with this car. It changes with different colors too. On the black one, the front doesn't look aggressive. The rear looks OK. On white and silver ones, the front looks amazing, the rear looks like ass.

I love the car for it's performance tho, which is why I was interested in getting one. There's a black one for sale right now at $225 because the buyer backed out, which is why I was invited to check the car out. But for $225, I sure the fuck want the car to look good from all angles.

Buying at MSRP, or is there a premium there? If there's a premium, just know that there are slots available for orders at MSRP...

That's MSRP. $225 is loaded up pretty nicely.

Not saying it's waste or anything. But for 225K there are SO many other cars I would rather buy first.

Crappy streets of Calgary? If you mean the quality of the roads, then clearly you haven't driven other places. Calgary roads are great. Don't believe me? Drive on half the roads in Vancouver, you'll soon develop a love for Calgary roads.

I agree 1000%. Looks like the snout of a dog to me. I saw a silver one on Macleod Trail the other day and it doesn't look any better in person. The SLR looks much better.

The MEC SLS has a different look and attitude....one that could grow on people not in love with the factory SLS.

I've had the pleasure of being driven in one and seeing numerous in person in all different colour schemes and options. Yes, some are prettier than others. But it's all personal preference. I'm sure all the owners are happy. It truly is an amazing machine. Remember the european version doesn't have the side markers or awkward bumper attachment... North America :banghead: .
