2007 Mazda3, 2007 Matrix or 2007 Impreza

Hi Beyond, I'm looking for a vehicle for my first car. I will be DD'ing this to university mostly, weekend trips, etc. It will be a slushbox (so if the pops needs to take it he can, but URG otherwise). Budget is between 15-17 grand. Cargo room is nice to have.

I'm torn between these three vehicles,

2007 Subaru Impreza wagon
2007 Toyota Matrix
2007 Mazda3 wagon

Scoob and Mazda come with more goodies standard if they're used
Toyota is slightly more reliable..?
Scoob and Mazda probably handle waaaaaay better than Matrix
Matrix has most cargo room
Scoob = AWD. Never driven AWD in winter so I don't know how much more awesome it is..

Any input is appreciated, flaming welcome as well, seeing as this is Beyond :)

I'd buy the Impreza, or possibly an older beater Impreza (since you're going to be driving to the university, which is basically door-ding city).

everyone on here will say to go for the Impreza as most of the fanboys have moved from Honda over to Subaru, so rather than actually comparing them and deciding which one is best for you, let me save you some time and just say that about 9/10 fanboys on here will tell you to buy the Subaru.

Nothin will ever beat the toyota reliability.

The big downside I have found with my scubie so far is just the really cheap paint job. Paint is super thin on them. Other than that I love it.

I have zero experience with Mazda. Other than I think the mazda hatches are a chick car.

You can also get GTI in that price range or even cobalt SS.

Simple really. If AWD is really important to you get the Impreza if not the Mazda 3. The Matrix is competent but doesn't do anything well and Toyota reliability isn't as great as it used to be. The Impreza should be fairly reliable and AWD is nice in the winter but not a necessity. I pick the Mazda 3 overall by a hair over the Impreza since it's the best handling of the three by far and has the nicest interior and exterior styling. The only cons about the Mazda is that they are everywhere like civics and reliability may not be quite as good as the Subaru or Toyota.

Drive them all and I'm sure one will stick out to you for your own personal needs and preferences.

i got 07 matrix xr and i like it.. good on gas and has good power on it too..:thumbsup: :thumbsup:
