View Full Version : Which should I get, X54.8 / 5.0 / M

So its that time. after searching long and hard, I'm gonna go with an X5 again.

BMW says they'll give me 5 - 8k off a new 4.8X5. gonna be getting the M package, with all the other goodies. thinking about either a black or white one, with black interior.

They want around 100k + tax for the new 2011's, they've upgraded them to the 5.0.

or should I just go all out and get the x5 M, which is 125k. they have a black one coming within the next couple weeks.

so. its 84k for a NEW 2010 X5
around 100k for the new 2010 X5
and or 125k for the 2010 X5 M

I am concerned about gas. I know most of you think that people with 100+ cars shouldn't be concerned about it, but I am, cause it will be a daily driver.

anyone know how much more that X5 M will eat over any of the other two. whats your guy's thoughts? and keep in mind I am looking for a status type car.

Rich why concern about gas, write it off from your company.

I vote for X5 M

Like come on, if you can afford it, might as well. We're not talking about someone comparing Civic LX or si.

The 11 50i is hands down better then the 10 48i

If you wanna spend the 25k more get the M its a serious machine. I got the 50i over the M, and trust me i was very close to getting the M. I felt my wife and kids didnt need 550hp. The 400 in the 50i is well delivered and very smooth. I love it.

The x5m will consume iam guessing 30% more gas then the 50i even the 48i will consume more gas then the 50i

go 50i not black though cause i live in cranston and have a black one hahah and there is a 2010 black m sport already as well.

The only hing we liked better about the 2010 over the 2011 is the wheels, iam not a fan of the new 20 inch wheels on he M sport, ill be using mine for winters.

Go alpine white 50i m sport

Good luck,

Bud go with the all out option, I can say from numerous experiences that you will see the M on the road and cringe. If you can afford it don't skimp, just do.

I vote 5.0, although the M is

The M is 125k??? We too a look at one at BMW Gallery that was just sold and I think it was like 109k or less...

And didn't somebody get one for ~95k on here?

$125K .. I think he/she means with all the taxes .. (~$4K gas tax etc)

125k sounds about right with Executive package (which is the only package IIRC), plus winter M wheels and all the extra goodies. I don't know about the 5.0 on consumption but the M is around 16.1/100km and it's hardly ever in M mode. I am constantly at the gas station.

I say the 5.0 -- I've heard nothing but horror from friends that have the 4.8's.

Any M, AMG, RS type of car is going to take a lot of gas. Especially when you hit it.

Be prepared to visit the gas station twice a week.

Wow I at least expected the M too. I could see the 5.0 being either tho.

No gas guzzler tax on the 50i for some reason, i think the 48i has a 1200
gas guzzler tax.

As said before go 50i if your concerened about fuel consumtion

All German Luxury brands take premium.

Your taking out a full loan?

Buy the X5M! Go big or go home.

I've had no problems with mine. An upgraded engine (5.0 in this case) will almost always be better than previous generations. Why would they make something that's worse?

If you're getting a good deal on the 4.8, go for it! Unless you want 50hp/100tq for $XXXX more. You're taking a loan out so it really depends on how comfortable you are with the payments.

Either way, enjoy!

All the models are fine really. Just get it in white, black cars always, always look dirty and water marked. Unless you have a F/T car guy cleaning it for you, go with the white model.

And at least give me a wave when I let you in front of me, I have no formal poll but really BMW drivers are the least wave friendly of all. No wonder they are so treated like soup-green vaginal discharge fluid on the road. A typecast? Kind of joking here.

To be honest, I notice that most people don't wave, regardless of what they drive.

Just shitin' ya. I let everyone in, like I have a choice in this micro Honda. I do not own the road. Some days I let everyone in, freaks them out.

I don't really understand the point of a "performance" SUV. If you want to go fast, get a car.

If you want to go fast and have utility, get a big fast wagon.

You would likely be afraid to take the M off road at all, where it doesn't fare well anyway, which kind of defeats the point of an SUV in my opinion. Get the 5.0. Still plenty quick for kicking around the city.

Homosexuals love performance SUVs that can't go off road.
