saw this about a month ago at crappy tire on macleod near 22x. at first i thought it was an old chevette, but as i got closer, i saw that it had an "Acadian" badge, complete with a maple leaf. being from the US, i've never seen or heard of this before. is this a now-defunct canadian car company?

Back in the day, GM used to sell some pontiac cars only in canada. Look up the Pontiac Beaumont, it was a re-badged and re-grilled chevelle that was sold in canada, but not in the USA

I'm assuming this acaidian is the same story. but yes, its a chevette

My parents use to have one of these back when I was a little kid but it was a 4 door plus hatch. It was a 1986 Pontiac Acadian. It was a 4 cyclinder and a 2 speed automatic I think. They sold it for $500 when I was like 8 haha

My family used to have an old Pontiac Acadian like that. Talk about un-fun camping trips...

My parent's next door neighbor has been driving a navy blue 1985 Acadian for 25 years now... and it's mint too.

GM offered this line as the Chevette, T1000, 1000 and Acadian between 1976 & 1987.

Nonlinear, that one you snapped is definitely old school, looks like 1976-1978 vintage for sure... a survivor... other than my parent's neighbor's car, I haven't seen a Chevette/Acadian in a long time.

I forgot about "that kind" of Acadian. My experience with Acadians has been the older-school one that races in Targa Newfoundland every year, as photographed by me below:

My cousins ex drove a drop top beaumont acadian that looks more like the one above. I cracked the windshield with my head once.

A couple guys in High School put a 350 in a Chevette, when he got back from its first run he could not open the door, the frame twisted so bad with all the torque.
