Anyone know pubs that are going to show every game during the Cup? I work downtown and want to watch all the games. Is there any pubs that are going all out with it and will have specials and be more up beat? (Calgary is so sad that way, seems like most pubs will have a small TV in the corner going and thats it)

Damn, hope someone in the downtown core will show it. I'll have to phone flames central, but I cant see them opening early for it since Calgary is very Pro hockey and thats it.

Problem with the core is you dont really have pubs, it is more restaurants than anything. If you are on the north end and can drive the pub at the top of edmonton trail (fidders court) will probably have it. They opened at 6:45 for rugby so I see them doing this too.

You may be able to go to Nawab and watch some games there. It is located across the street from the Telus building and could end up being quite a hike for you if you are on the other side of DT. The owner of Nawab is a hardcore footie fan and will have his TVs tuned into CBC.

I used to go watch the WC2006 games in the BP building lounge on the +15 where they had a big screen TV setup.

Most live games are at 5:15am, 7:45am and 12:30pm daily. Might be hard to catch the early ones.

I watched most of the Euro Cup four years ago at the Unicorn, Flames Central, and the Ship & Anchor. The Ship's by far my favorite out of the three as they dedicate a part of a pub to World Cup games and move in a projector to show them.

Yeah, there are a few places on 17th applying for special licenses in order to serve alcohol early for the games. I believe Melrose is one of them.

Unicorn - Just confirmed that they will be open at 8am for every early game and 10 am for the rest. They will have food and YES you can get booze at that time. Looks like this will be my place to be.

NICE! I don't see the possibility of a sober weekend any time soon.

Sounds like Unicorn is the place to be.

Also looks like I will need to work remotely from the Unicorn, hopefully the Rogers rocket stick has some good reception in that basement.

Has anyone found anywhere to watch the early (5am) game?

I know SoHos opens at 6am and they serve breakfast. Haven't checked it out personally, for some reason everyone is just trying to book me back to back with meetings most of the time.

Unicorn is also a wifi hotspot so for those of you that are 'working' while watching a match you've got it made. They've put a LOT more TVs in there since the last world cup, and some of them are HD, can't remember if their projector is HD tho...

I actually found that the deVille coffee house in Arts Central to be fantastic to watch. They have food, drinks and not many places to sit. But you can hear the announcers and watch in HD.

Anyone watched a game at SOHO yet?

Am trying to decide between SOHO and Unicorn for England game tomorrow.

According to SOHO they have reservations left for tomorrow while Unicorn only has drop in left (just phoned them).
