I don't know of any problems/reliability/etc... but my friend has a Toyota 4runner and he loves it... hasn't given him any problems yet either. Also, a lot of reviews on 4runner that I've seen have been pretty positive. And of course it's a Toyota.

they arnt really in the same catagory are they... The new 4runner is quite a bit nicer, more powerful and bigger than the xterra, but also cost a pretty penny more. You need to clarify which year and what your looking for.

Wouldn't the 4 Runner be more in the Pathfinder market? But in any case, if you go xterra, be sure to go with the Supercharged Model

A better comparison would probably be the 4Runner LTD and the QX4, and even then, it would be pretty close.

I just bought a 4 Runner, two weeks ago, I love it, I don't think you can compare a 4 Runner to an Xterra, more like a Pathfinder. I took both out on test drive, the 4 Runner to me seems more of the off road type, better ground clearance and more pulling power if you get the V8 4 runner.

I would go for the 4 Runner. I have the 98 one... its a great car. Especially the new one... it has some great new features

4 Runner is good.. but .. are you comparing a New 2004 4 Runner to a New Xterra ? they are diff class, and $15K diff !

For same money, you can buy a 2 yr old Xterra or a 5 yr old 4 runner. (the older 4 runner is much nicer then the new one ! )
