Decided that with the new turbo setup on its way i should be able to stop as well so i went this route:

http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t285/Lafngas333/IMG_0025.jpg

while doing the big brake kit i also swapped in 1999 pontiac grand am aluminum control arms with prothane bushings which save about 4 lbs a side and help with unsprung weight and wheel hop

the built engine on 11 psi with the .82 hot side with the gt3076r style cold side GT35R made 403whp and 350wtq as well. currently adding a couple things fuel related and afterwards going for 20psi and 500+whp and 450+wtq

specs on the build done to the car engine wise are:

:dunno: why spend the money in a fwd beater? Not saying it rudely, but just curious why you didn't sink mod money into a car that would handle/look better?

I think it's a cool build! I like seeing regular cars like these transformed into crazy builds.

Although that being said, I do have a soft spot for Cavaliers as I drove my dads through high school.

its not a beater, its what i drive for the summer months, my winter beater however is a 2009 jeep ........... SRT8.

for what i paid/invested into the car as it sits i personally think its not a bad platform at all. it has everything suspension wise done and handles pretty good.

as for the look better comment, to each their own, i like the cav

I counted eleven "FWD beaters" as projects on the first page of the garage alone. Why aren't you posting in their threads, telling them what cars to build up? Also, I didn't see any project threads from you, so STFU and worry about your own cars before you start calling other people's projects beaters.

Nice build. That's a really well done car.

Aftermarket parts for J-bodies are crazy cheap compared to other platforms, you've probably spent way less on this than people would guess.

Good work

Nice work. hard work definetly appreciated. after any day its always fun to hop in the fun car and go for a rip. we all do it for the enjoyment and doesnt matter what car everyone uses. All of our cars mean something to all of us and something something done right is a good surprise with all the caviliers that are done wrong.

it makes me laugh how people come on here and make fun of the car when more often than not the car they drive has been hacked together with half ass parts and such and is mediocre at best.

the car is something completely different, makes decent power on modest boost and can pull cars worth lots more with little effort.

yes its a cavalier which is the same point A to point B mind frame car as the civic and other entry level cars.

Too bad you didn't build a fwd civic then you wouldn't get any hate.

That's definately the best cav I have ever seen and those numbers are very impressive for such a low boost level. What do you do for tuning?

tuning is done using the gm supercharger reflash so it can read 2 bar map tables and then modified further using something called HP Tuners which turns your stock ecu into almost a full standalone. unfortunetly they dont give the j body platform custom operating systems like the vettes/f bodies as they have 2/3 bar map tables and all sorts of extra's available to them

LAFNGAS
08-08-2010, 03:13 PM
thanks.

it can use some cleaning up in the engine bay, i know that for sure and a couple other things here and there.

lately ive had a couple little issues as for some reason its running retarded 9:1 and all my vac lines seem to be fine but gonna hurry up and get my fuel system in as i maxed out the stock 3/8 feed line from the pump to fuel rail. the 403whp and 350wtq was with it revving to 6300rpm instead of the 7500rpm due to the fueling issue.

im confident that with the new fuel line and overkill extra external fuel pump that on the 11psi low boost wg spring i will hit 430+whp and roughly 400wtq and with it being 2900lbs with me in it and fully equipped (full interior/full tank of fuel) it will make for a very quick sleeper street car.

i might switch my vac lines from silicone to the synflex line and push connectors as they are very durable and dont have to worry about zip ties/glue or them popping off once installed.

the goal is to make 530whp and 450wtq on 20-25psi and still running pump gas. hopefully everything works out where i can get the time to be home to work on the car, having 3-4 days off a month for the last year makes things a bit retarded trying to balance family time/personal time and now trying to do full bolt ons for the srt8 jeep is also delaying the car but its wicked having a dd hammering down high 12's all day long

HUGE THANKS TO NEIL @ HP SOLUTIONS

11psi = 400whp and 350wtq
25psi = 535whp and 481wtq

all done on 94 octane pump gas as well and the car still has more in it ;D

thanks guys.

thinking i might do a couple things to the car yet. new intake manifold with an LS1 throttle body and then retune. that alone should put me around 550whp due to runner length/plenum volume/velocity stacks along with moving more air.

and then throw in some 110 octane and see what i can do as im running very conservative on the timing yet

Makes me miss my Cav, I remember you from the JBO.

Sweet car. I love how people jump on it for being a 'grocery runner' but nobody makes the same comment to people with Civics. I'd take a J-Body over a Civic any day. Kick ass build.

havent made it to the track yet but had a couple run ins with some cars lately.

car on low boost seems to be more than enough for the majority of anything in town

high boost however was needed with the run in with a zr1 vette and i have to get a camera installed for the next encounter so you guys can see for yourselves :poosie:

1st time @ the track on 11psi and couldn't rev passed 6k due to running out of fuel, I bogged my first run and ran a 14.0 @ 118mph and wouldve only been 400ish whp. 2nd run I had a 1.9 60ft but the clutch let go midway through 3rd gear and coasted across the line to a 15.2 @ 108mph. I'm confident that the cavy has 135+mph in it

no doubt about it that is very quick.

here is an awesome calculator that seems to be right on the money, I have checked it against dynoed cars and there track times. most accurate calculator I have seen yet.

http://www.stealth316.com/2-calc-hp-et-mph.htm my car is 2900lbs rounded up with me in it and a full tank of gas, makes 542whp/493wtq so what's that calculate to? I'm on my blackberry and site won't work

there are 3 calculators on that site.

calc 1 says 11.3 @ 129mph

clalc 2 says 10.1 @ 133

clalc 3 says 10.9 @ 131

I have noticed the mph calculation with the hp is very accurate but the e/t varys. depending on launch.

LAFNGAS
05-15-2011, 09:41 PM
the mph will be outlandish and probably run a 12.0 @ 130+mph

im confident that the car could do a 10 with slicks/traction
