My GF is looking at buying a 07-08 Mitsubishi Eclipse can I get feedback from people on the eclipses are they reliable whats their repair history like and overall would you recommend them.

I owned a 97 eclipse turbo and had lots of problems so I am hoping they have changed alot since then and especially since she wants to buy a non turbo

non turbo is better on the wallet when fixing, if that turbo goes $$$$$

This gen never came with turbos afaik. Apparently its a bitch to get body parts from Mitsubishi if you get in an accident.

They are great cars. They have lil problems like every other car though.

The gt's have a problem with the cats which get replaced under warranty.

They both had a problem with sqealing brakes which was under warranty

The 4 cylinder ones are kind of underppowered for the car but are very reliable

The gt's are hard to drive during winter because of the amount of torque they produce.

Both models require winter tires because they factory tires are garbage.

All very snall problems and easy to work around.

They are solid and reliable cars with no major mechanical issues.

They are solid cars, they are a bit wide to drive but all in all good cars. don't expect it to go fast because they are heavy and FWD. V6 will have the torque steer.

Agreed

Old gen Talon/Eclipse/Laser = Garbage (Sorry Kino)

New Gen = Reliable but slow.

Not a bad choice for the GF!

The Eclipse hasn't come with a turbo in over 10 years.

They are as reliable as anything else now.

My mom and an 08 V6. Bought brand new. To date not a single problem.

The thing I hate most about driving it is the damn pillars when you shoulder check its hard to see anything. I also find the height of the window is to high to throw your arm up on the ledge comfortably. And as mentioned underpowered.

I haven't driven it a ton, my mom loves it. Handles fine in the winter for her with winters.

Underpowered like mad. Drove one, was pretty underwhelming considering the 263 hp it had. Although I love the stock exhaust sound.

Someone I know has a 09 GT with about 9000km he wants to sell. Blue with black leather interior. He has an ad on here I believe.

Agreed! Car felt cumbersome...also what wintonyk said about the blindspots/pillars!!

It never really got good reviews - despite a peppy engine. This is not the first time I've heard of the handling being "cumbersome".

And davesparky6 - that's for the 2nd gen. No point in showing a poster regarding a car which is not even the topic of the thread... :)

My reviews are from working at mitsu for 2 years in the parts department. So these are all based on what i delt with everyday and driving them very often:burnout:
