A friend of mine just blew the engine in his vr6 jetta, does anyone know where she can take it and get a new or used motor for a reasonable price? he got quoted about 4000 from the dealership.

What year? Decent running condition VR6 engines are pretty hard to find (or expensive) in the earlier years.

If those two shops fail, call PG Performance in Surrey, BC. They can find absolutely anything, and at a good price. They will gladly ship it wherever you want, including one of the two Calgary dub shops.

I need a 1.8T, if he's willing to buy the one for $800 that is for sale, and pull the one I have, he's got a deal. The one I have has a distributor, but I believe it's still OBDII.

Montgomery parts yard, they are crooks. They charge you a first born child. Too expensive.

Agreed, plus one of the owner's sons who works there is a total douchebag. Rude treatment of customers + over-priced parts = fail.
