I would like to buy an OBD2 code reader. Doing a quick search it looks like Princess Auto has them for the cheapest price.

Where would you suggest is the best place to buy one?

Princess Auto or Craptastical Tire.

That's where I bought mine. And it was the cheapest price in town then too.

Curious ... haven't been to Princess Auto to see what they have got, but CT has em ... $100-300 at the okotoks store ... but all based on make of car ...

Do they have to be this way? Or are there universal ones for all makes? Since I own 1 Honda, 2 GM, and 2 Dodge ... would rather just get one instead of 3!!

Were you looking at OBD1 versions? OBD2 is univeral through all makes since 96, I believe.

Princess auto has a few OBD2 readers according to the website. Prices range from $40 to $300, not sure what the value of the more expensive ones are over the cheap one.
