Don't know if it's hard to install or not, but you should get the extra subscription to playboy radio.

I think the boys at Audio Concepts have XM, maybe it's Sirrus?*shrugs* Either way, they'd be the one's to talk to about how hard it is to install, and how much it is. AC is on 32nd Ave NE at 20th Street.

i wouldnt get it, its streamed at 64kbps, so half the rate of average mp3s. though they say they have some special "codec" or something which makes it sound better than it really is, nah, no thanks.

320 is where its at, ok ok, 160 minimum.

mp3pro is a format that uses ultra low bitrates in order to make them easily streamable or to save space/transfer etc. 64 Kb/s would be a very poor quality file if it were a regular mp3, however as an mp3pro, you'd have a hard time distinguishing it from CD quality.

Point I'm trying to make here is the codec is very important and although it won't be dolby 5.1 digital, the sound quality is still great. Antenna radio is no comparison.

PS- funny thing about the .mp3 format is it was never intended as a true sound codec, its just the sound layer of a regualr .mpeg movie. Suffice it to say that althought it can produce decent sound quality with files that are smaller than .wavs, its still by no means an efficient codec when compared to ones that were custom made for the job.

Ya Audioconcepts has XM....the receiver and antenna are around $400 (its Alpine) and you will need an XM ready headunit, Alpine also. Most new Alpine heads are XM ready. From there its like $10USD a month for service and the Playboy radio is an extra fee. XM is great, works great, good selection of music, some reception loss when in and around downtown. That aside its pretty good.

Can receiver and antenna be had cheaper on ebay or something? Or must it be canada specific?

Think the price will go down considerably in a year or so?

There is only one unit made by Alpine for XM. Technically XM isn't available here due to lack of canadian content and whatnot. So there is no specific canadian model. I never thought about looking on ebay. The price may drop, i know it has since it first came out but it will level eventually.

What do you know? found one. Cheap too. Needs antenna.
