G'day all,

Anyone here good with design work? Trying to sort out a clean flat deck solution for my truck, but just can't seem to make it look right / work right.

Truck as it sits today:

Part of the problem is the propane tanks - under toolbox design (60x30x12"), but I need a full 4x8' area behind them (so have to add 30" to total length). My toolboxes are 7'6x16"x19". And need to squeeze room for a removeable ladder rack (haul a truck camper on the weekends). Flare to flare for the duallies - I'm 94" wide, so keeping that width full length.

Kinda what I started with, but it just looks off - I'll obviously have to do something with that area around the propane tanks - thinking maybe one of those razorbacks or similar just to cover them - and/or find/build a set of tool boxes to match existing ones.

Anyone good at sketching things out so they look right?

Still playing - would love some input :)

Added a headache rack (that'll double as a fixed mount for the ladder rack)- thinking I might just throw on one of those 'razorback' type things mostly just as protection for the propane tanks...

Guess I'm on my own here?

Don't accuse me of knowing how to use Gimp - but had to test fit it...

Have you considered moving the propane tanks to the underside of the deck? Just spitballing here ... my boss did up a '38 Ford pickup into a flatdeck, maybe I can get some shots of it for you...
Basically to visualize it for you, its the '38 ford cab, and an aluminum flatdeck c/w hydraulic lift.
His is gasoline, but still the same concept - he used some old Labatt's kegs as his new fuel tanks, and has them mounted right behind the cab, basically between the cab and the tool boxes (which contain all the fun goodies for the air ride). Looks pretty good, and lets him have the full deck wide open.
Only other option, if you are wantign to keep them up top, would be to find a custom fab shop to build some aluminum tool boxes/covers for the tanks.

Heh I should go through my telus account email more often :)

Was looking for some advice/thoughts on layout etc... But didn't get much so just went ahead with my plan as it was...

drawings all done in sketchup - really nice cad program. Just finished the headache rack on the weekend actually - perhaps I'll post some finished drawings later.
