Moulded Ear Plugs

Does anyone know if anybody in town can make moulded ear plugs for riding? I bought a set that were custom made in Pheonix last year but lost them.

Really??? They can make the injected custom plugs? How much and which part of the store?

I haven't bought them, but when I worked at a box factory for my summer job a couple years ago (yes, I really did work at a box factory), the other workers all recommended costco. You'll have to talk to someone in the section with the glasses and medicine. I think they run around $60, which is less than other places.

Edit: Just talked to my dad who's bought them there, and he said he thought they were about $100. He also said he doesn't really remember. So expect to pay $60 to $100. Whatever the cost, its Costco so I would almost guarantee they'll be cheaper than anywhere else. Also, my dad is quite happy with his, and said he'd buy them there again.

Just got back from Costco South. He said they wouldn't be able to do the moulds until the end of July due to the shortage of material. I talked to 3 hearing aid places and they were all $125-$150 and would take 2 weeks to get.:banghead:

There is a place that does them at the bike show. They also have retail outlet. I'll see if I can find the card tonite. I think they were about $75. Most comfortable ear plugs I've ever had.

Aside from the comfort factor, what are the other benefits of these custom earplugs?

I've been using disposable ones that a buddy of mine gets free from work, and I've never had an issue with comfort. I'd like to know if custom ones are worth purchasing.

If you spend any amount of time in them, 100% yes. Also, apparently you can carry a normal convo easier than with the typical earplugs. I look at it this way: They're not going to wear out any time soon; if they cost $120 and you have them for 2 years (conservatively), they cost you $5 a month. Shit, I lose more money in my couch and drivers seat than that.

I got a set of dB Blockers from a place here on the island (Island Hearing) and they were only $150. Super comfortable, I wear them all day at work.

This part intrigues me. Still, I'll have to think about it. The current plugs I wear cost $0 a month, and I can lose them as often as I want. :D

^ If you find them comfortable then use them. I don't find them comfortable and my custom plugs are very comfy so they are well worth the expense. Everyone is different and the price is immaterial when I have to wear them for hours at a stretch. I'll have these for years to come and when they wear out I will definitely get another pair.

I have a set. They block certain frequencies and keep other ones coming through. Like blocks out semi engine but can hear the radio perfect. I love em.

Hope I'm not stepping on the rules.

I'd suggest taking your helmet with you where ever you get them done so you can make sure they fit well. I had to mod mine a bit for a better fit on the outside of my ears. Would have been better to have them fit when they were made.
