how accurate do you think the prices are on that site for used cars? is that what you folks go by when listing your cars?

i'm trying to gauge how much to list a car for sale and have been doing some research at a few used car sites. VMRCanada says about $22-$24k but i've seen the same car for sale from anywhere between $18-$25k

the car is a 2004 FX35, fully loaded with Nav. 94k kms.

I don't even bother with those sites. I usually go with market value only and adjust price according to how desperate I am lol

i'm trying to judge a fair market value but some guys seem out to lunch on their pricing.

a 2006 FX35 is advertised at about $35k with avg kms. yet a 2004 is listed at $18k with similar kms. WTF. 2 year difference and half the price? just doesn't sound right to me.

one of those will sell quickly, one will have to drop the price

goto autotrader.ca and see what people are asking. if you're in a hurry to sell, put it in the lower range.

it's not scientific, but it works - pretty much everyone I know first goes to there to see what to pay. Doesn't matter what anything else says, that's what they'll pay usually.

The guys probably not needing to sell that badly. It's probably 7k over priced.

also check out http://www.canadianblackbook.com/ cause that's the black book (trade in values) so it will be on the really low end obviously.

$18K (unless high mileage) is basically blackbook or it may have some issues or owner wants quick sale.

If dealer will pay you $16K to $19K for 2004 FX35, I'm sure you can get a couple more $k out of it. How much you can get for your car is directly tie to how long you have to sell it.
