beyond.ca SOCCER match

Hello All,

A couple of years back, I had organized a soccer match for beyond.ca members which had great success. A couple more followed during that same season, but interest seemed to die down each time.

With the World Cup 2010 coming to an end I'd figure that soccer fever is still strong, and it would be a good time to bring back beyond.ca soccer.

I'll keep it simple. Indicate if you are interested in coming and how many people you plan to bring along by replying in this thread. Keep in mind that this is a beyond.ca event, so please try limit the number of non-beyonders to the event if there is alot of interest.

Dates I have in mind are either Sunday July 18th in the afternoon (3 pm?) or the same a week later on july 25th. If you cannot make these dates, please indicate a date that works for you and we'll see what majority rules. We used to play at the Edgemont field in the NW (near co-op) and this will stay the same unless there are any objections. It is a nice field, the goal posts have nets, and seems to always be vacant on Sundays.

For equipment, obviously a pair of cletes, shinpads and socks would be basic. If you plan on playing goalie, bring gloves. Wouldn't hurt to bring your own ball, hydration, bugspray, etc. as well. Also bring both a light and dark colored shirt, as we will play teams in a lights vs. darks fashion. Ideally, I would like to see a match of 11 vs 11 with subs for both sides.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the fields behind co-op used for u10 8v8?

I also have full sized netting if you would want to switch location.

:). This field is not to be confused with the one right behind co-op. The location we're going to has a regulation size field with regulation size nets. I posted a link to googlemaps to make it more clear.

I'd suggest playing at the 4st and 24ave NW location. They have two full games going all sunday afternoon, from 1-4pm. Travelling north on 4st, it's behind the school on the right hand side by the 7-11.
