how much gas mileage are you suppose to get on a 600cc bike.
i just got a 2005 cbr 600rr. and i noticed after putting in 10L my tank appears to be full even though on the specs of the bike it says u can put in 18.7L. Am i missing something?and my mileage seems to be low but then again im revving it like crazy. just wonderin any other 600rr owners out there can help me out. how much mileage are you suppose to get with a full tank? and how much is a full tank.. 10 or 18??

On my GSXR, my gas light comes on at like 175KM or so. Depends if I drive it hard.

And I put around 12-14 bucks in it normally.

If you're filling up when the fuel light goes on, that would explain why you can only put 10L in. My tank has a capacity of 17L and the fuel light will go on with 7L left, so my fills are usually around 11L, even though the capacity is 17L.

I was curious about my mileage as well and found a ton of info on the bike specific forums, so I would suggest going to a 600rr forum and just searching mileage or fuel economy... I would be very surprised if you don't find like 5 threads on the topic.

Also, see my fuelly below. Thats with quite moderate riding; I only have one fill up on there, it didn't get redlined during that whole tank. Yours will probably be worse than that if you've been riding hard.

Yeah my ninja gives me about 200 before the reserve light comes on, I don't drive it that hard.

I used to sketch out when the light went on... til I did some research and found out that I still have a shitload of fuel left haha. I care a bit less now.

I pay more attention to my trip odo than my fuel light anyways because the fuel light on my R1 was broken.... you can guess how I found that out:rolleyes:

so even though im only putting in 10L of gas , i still have a reserve of approx another 7L or so? ithat makes a little bit sense. so when the gas light comes on u still have another 7L approx.nice,, but yeah i sketch out everytime i see that light come on. so i fill up right away

My '09 ZX6R has a 17L tank (I think) and the light comes on with a bit less that 4L left in the tank. I usually get close to 200kms before the light hits, with a mix of city and highway riding.

On the highway I get 175, in town I get 150. Power commander sucks the gas.

my 05cbr 600rr has 20 000km on it, are there any maintenance stuff that can be done to give me better gas mileage or what?

My R6 can go about 220 in the city till the light comes on, and then I've put another 30 or so on afterwords... but I was pretty scared.

On the highway, if I tuck down under the screen, I can probably get 300+ kms on one tank.

Depending on how hard I am on the throttle I get between 45 and 51 mpg.

Same bike, get about 200-220 till light comes on. Most i've ever had to put in there was 15.5L, think i was at about 260km, mostly highway that time.

I get 60 on the highway with my 675, about 350kms between fillups, and its $13-15 per fill up, so about 17 liters.
Id get probably over 400 if I tucked the whole time.

Holy shit you guys are hypermiling compared to me; my light just came on at ~130 haha. I guess thats what happens when I spend monday -> friday riding light to light commuting, no freeway. Ugh.

^ For much more aggressive city riding I get about 200 or so per tank. It all depends how you ride. With my bike I Never have to keep the revs high since it has so much mid-range.
My buddy on his R6 gets horrendous fuel economy because in order for him to have the same power he needs to keep the revs over 8k consistently. If you keep the revs low and ride normally Im sure you'll get a fair bit more as well.

One would think so... but I definitely don't rev high in town. The ZX-10 has no shortage of mid-range, and I can't ride all that aggressively without doubling the speed limit (which is 40-60 everywhere)... so that doesn't happen in the city haha. I really think its just purely the stop-and-go that kills me. I probably hit a light on average every 3 blocks, so even though I keep the revs under 4-5k almost all the time I still get shit fuel economy.

My fuel light usually comes on at about 220km unless I have a passenger, then its around 190. Usually get around 38-42mpg.

Cruising around the speed limit i've had my fuel light come on at 250kms so I had another few L of fuel left in the tank. That's only happened once, on my way back from Sturgis last year.

That being said, I usually ride pretty tame, lol.

I get usually 220-230ish on my '07 R6 before the light comes on, I don't ride as hard as I used to anymore :(

Yeah I used to ride like an idiot. It's way more fun, but after numerous close calls (and one spill), and a couple tickets I've calmed down. It's just not worth it to ride around town agressively.

I commute to work on it, and about 20 kms of that is freeway, so it helps the mileage. I find even to ride semi-aggressive you still don't have to ride too hard... even at like 50% throttle you're faster than 90% of the shit on the road.

today i put to the test the "50 km left when the light comes on" that everyone says on the R6....its very true. i got 49km before it started bogging, this was with regular riding, a little blip here and there but USUALLY going the speed limit.

im thinking with riding like this, 250-270km on a tank is pretty accurate on the R6, also with premium, costs under 12 bucks to fill. this is an 06 by the way.

Anyway.. Tuesday I was coming home from the GF's place at like 2 in the morning, going like 60 around a turn and some drunk fat hooker type girl tries to closeline me.

Didn't know really what to say.. Pretty sure she was pissed drunk... But on a tuesday?

well my theory was wrong. when i was out in BC i got 70 kms when the light came on and i still had a good 1 liter left...im pretty sure depending how much you fill the tank, riding sporadically you could get 300+ kms on a tank.

Heh.. I got about 280ish on average on my Katana. On my FJR I'm about 290 city and 340 highway easy. Could probably get closer to 400 if I was easier on the throttle. My personal best was 364 on a tank, and I just touched the reserve.

that was a feckin gong show...going from station to station.

Then as a good bonus, the shell by my house ran out of regular and mid grade and only had premium left the next week, so I filled up the bike for 93.9, went home and got the EVO and went back, lol.

I've only done one fill up with my fuelly account so far, but it says my R1 is 7.2 L/100km...I want to put a power commander on it just to see, currently I can smell the raw gas when I slow down after hard acceleration...think it's running a little rich...
