View Full Version : Exhaust is too short!! Need help please

Guys I have a 1992 civic hatchback with a b16a swap in it. I bought a Tanabe medallion touring catback and skunk2 testpipe/cat for the 92-95 civic. My problem is the system isn't bolting up to the b16a oem header, there is about a 1.5" gap between them. Is this what happens? Do I need a different header or a custom extension? this pissed me off because the cars been sitting on jacks since late May and its finally ready to go besides exhaust. I do have another custom catback, but the whole reason that got removed is it had bad/leaky welds on it. I might just have to get those repaired I guess.

it's an easy fix. you can go to just about any shop and get it custom fabricated to fit. they'll just weld another piece to the exhaust piping to extend it.

Alright thanks man, looks like I will have to do that, although just a few mintues ago I got my dad to help me out by pushing the muffler in from the back, it moved an easy 2" inward without hurting anything and looks like it might bolt up, so Ill see what happens tommorow lol (Dad left to go home, Im out of will power for tonight lol.) If not Ill try your suggestion .:thumbsup:

you are prolly stretching the hangers, make sure you dont go too crazy, or it may stretch them too much and the exhaust may pop off while youre driving.

shit that would be a problem if my brand new expensive system popped off, Ill have to try and bolt it up to see whats going on (Ill check for the stretching.) Otherwise I will just take the skunk2 testpipe in to a shop, get them to weld a 2" extension piece in and call it a day. Sounds simple enough: problem Im in Fort Mac there is next to nothing here for exhaust shops but the couple here should do minor welding jobs like this I hope.
