Picked up a EK hatchback, and its going to be a full ek9 replica! lets jump to the parts!

heres part list:
B16b CTR Engine
Greddy 18G turbo kit

CTR Red Recaro's

Power goals are not really too high, just want a fun dd reliable turbo civic.

Word on the 1/4 rust you posted, that is not surface rust, it's actually in the metal and is coming from the inside out. Do it right, and cut the metal right out of there.....patching it will just come back every few months over and over

I just wanted to give you a heads up, since you were going to make this a nice project car. I built a 96 hatch up 2-3 years ago, and started out the same way as you, with a clean hatch with even less rust than the car you have now. It had only a couple small bubbles on each side.....after only one winter, the rust had spread two two large patches on the passenger side alone, larger than toonies. You may want to concentrate on that part of your resto first...but, it's up to you! :)

Not sure why, but hatches seem very prone to rust, the 2 door coupes are much less prone to it...i rarely see them with rust at all unless they have come from out East.

I sold my hatch in favor of a coupe, not even a single bubble anywhere. In the long run, i figured it was cheaper to start that way

Get a clean body from BC with no rust anywhere, remove the shitty rubber strips that hold moisture and dirt and get a beater to drive in the winter.

That's what everybody likes to think, and what i was trying to get at earlier....it's much much larger on the inside, a quick patch job will not fix it!

At the very least, you will need 1/4 patch panels put in, cost about $700 per side to fix properly. I speak from experience

i bought my car and there was not a single thing rusted on the body looking from the outside...

once the body man too over and started to do the bodywork and prep for paint, the WHOLE passanger QP was rusted underneath.... so it was a lot more work in the end then we thought...

Looks on the outside can be decieving...

i don't think it would be that much you should check with speedtech, but i got mine from jdmsource, but my gf got it for me so it was free for me lol, still waiting on my ctr rear bench from jdmsource, have the top part but not the bottom part lol

The axle nuts were a bitch to take off, ended up taking the whole arm off...

Now i need help wiring. the dizzy needs to be rewire, injector plugs dont fit and no vtec plug? need some help wiring this sh*t up.

This is a fairly easy swap man, jumper harness between your ecu and wiring harness, jumper harness between your obd2b dizzy and obd2a harness both can be found at rywire.com.

Then you have to wire in vtec since hatches never had it.

1 wire for the knock sensor, 1 for the vtec pressure switch and 1 for the vtec solenoid. Then a ground.

Look up wiring vtec for your obd online it will show you whick pin and all, its easy.

You'll have to change to OBD1 injector pigtails for your RC injectors.

Just go to picknpull with side cutters and snip some off.

Is it turbo right now or still N/A? If it's still N/A running a stock B16B ecu you shouldn't need a tune and if it runs rough it has to do with your swap and possibly a vac line or some wires being wrong. Any codes?

Pop the actuator arm off the wastegate so that it can't build boost (this takes 2 seconds). Run it NA until it's on the dyno.

I just did wht you told me sam and it fired up and ran really good also changed the injectors to stock.

If I had a Honda like you guys Id Ebay turbo that shit so fast..

Id crank the boost up as high as possible till something flew out the side of the block... Why? Cuz its just that cheap again to do it over again..

so making 2000 for an engine, 700 for a turbo kit, and everything is a little tough.

How much is that setup? The tein springs are just going to be my temporary suspension till I get some money saved up for a extremely nice suspension (tein flex)

Chase if you slam your car it's not going to be comfy anymore, because the suspension has less room to travel and If it's too soft it will bottom out and if too stiff it won't be comfy at all...

Thats where the top hats help.
Get a complete suspension setup, do basically everything you can, and the top hats give the shock more travel, so more low ;) and you can pretty much get just as good of a ride, so i've heard, from this setup. This setup, will probably cost around 1300ish?but there on sale on weksos, like Joe said. correct me if my addition is horrible, im really ass tired, and yeah i've heard nothing but good things. This guy, who owns that EK9 (dut) has nothing but good things to say. I would take his word for it, and he has his ride slammed!!!

Plus they look nice, haha.
Deffinintlly something to look into, i saw this setup after i bought my coils, thankfully i didn't pay more than 500 for my coils, and fell inlove, i honestly think if i plan on upgrading from what i got soonor or later, ill go with a set.

There on sale for 890+120 for top hats and then tax/exchange rates etc cost is around 1200ish And it's 1600 for the tein flex which is my fav suspension/coilovers so I think I'm going to save up or even better are the tein ss they are more comfy on the road then flex and are only 1100:dunno:

been lazy for awhile trying to get my eg running so i can sell it before snow falls.

Sold the turbo kit before i got it tuned, i want to build the motor now :D

Lol trust me dude all motor is the way to go....and I'm going to spend close to 2g on the bottom end have my self a nice reliable engine that won't blow up down the road if you know what i mean?

True

For a na motor the power is there with you at all times where for a motor with turbo you have to wait till 4000rpm for it to spool and don't have much of revs left before you have to shift again.

I don't see 190whp happening NA out of a 1.6L at 3500 feet.

Expect 150 if it's on Toma's dyno.

Still be enough to have fun with.

If i remember correctly reggies gsr made 145whp stock internal with Just a buddyclub exhaust

You can actually make 200+ with a itr crank.

All compression numbers below are based on 81mm bore, using the rods that match the crank (ls rods with ls crank and GSR/ITR rods with GSR/ITR crank), b16a/b head, and stock head gasket:
-ITR/GSR crank and GSR/ITR rods with CTR pistons: 12.74
-ITR/GSR crank and GSR/ITR rods with JDM P73-00 ITR pistons: 11.32
-ITR/GSR crank and GSR/ITR rods with JDM P30 B16a pistons: 11.27

-LS crank and LS rods with CTR pistons: 13.0
-LS crank and LS rods with with JDM P73-00 ITR pistons: 11.53
-LS crank and LS rods with JDM P30 B16a pistons: 11.48

expect about 135whp on his dyno if precise builds your engine :(

Yeah I followed up on your build thread was amazed that the numbers were so low... I'm going to go over to tecmotion because Toma can't tune s200's and hopefully have better luck..

Also I'm going to do a before and after dyno to really see the difference..

Good idea, im not sure why so many people "rave" about GC KONI setups. Koni makes a great strut, and maybe the GC springs are good, but the piston diameters are close to OEM, shock design is essentially a more agressive verision of OEM, then you would plan on taking the shock travel and halfing it or maybe even less reducing your damping efficiency and ride characteristics.

IMO: its either OEM shocks with quality after market springs, or full on coilover suspension. Your choice with TEIN SS would probably be good, i had TEIN Flex on mt EG and it was the best set of COILS i ever had. Ive tried those KYB + Lowering Coil style kits before, they dont last long.

Yeah exactly. My cousin's B20VTEC with 11.5:1 pistons made 155whp. With cams it'd probably be sitting at 170whp.

Yeah i just don't think you will be satisfied. There's just no way to replace the sound of a turbo spooling, hearing the tires spin and that BOV piercing your ears. ;) Poetry at its best.

I still say go Turbo, but if you wanna go NA, power to ya.
I guess i won't know the problems you ran into until i turbo my d, but then again, its a D, doesn't take much haha.

Your car's going to be stupid loud haha.
