Looks like a U.S highway patrol car, never seen one like it here, the archaic "bubble gum machine" rotating light is strange too,i haven't seen a police vehicle with this style of light, looks more like what they would have used in the 70's.

it is just a retro show car, pretty obvious, since the back fender says:

proof of our past
commitment to our future.

That car is often in the Okotoks/High River area.. They use it a lot for speed trap work.. People have gotten so used to the typical cop car look it hides pretty well in plain view. People drive right on up to it at way over the limit all the time.

Spotted in Strathmore,i would be a bit hesitant stopping for this if i didn't know it was a real cop car, modern police lights are unavailable to the general public, but anyone can buy a red beacon at gregg's distributors, and throw it on any old crown vic,my wife said she just read a story a few months back about a fake police cruiser pulling people over in rual areas and robbing them.

yep iv been pulled over by that one.

just outside okotoks town limits on the north end. i stared him down because of the goofy roof light then he pulled me over for no seat belt. got off without a ticket tho.

yep that car is based here in High River. It is a legit RCMP vehicle, have seen him pull over a few cars ... it is moreso a decoration for the RCMP to put in parades, car shows etc but they do use it for patrolling and radar.

High River actually also got a regular marked RCMP Crown Vic, but without any lights on the roof ... they pretty much use this ugly black retro thing in conjunction with the no roof lights car for the radar traps down here ... sneaky buggers!

Saw it in Strathmore the other day. They also have a blue & white one with different lights as well. Wasting budget again on cars that aren't needed.

I remember seeing one with that stupid fucking light on the top down by Nanton a year ago. Haha I only remember it because I honestly did a double take wondering if the police still used those huge lights.
