car alarm

is there any way I can change the settings on my alarm (like when the sound comes on and when to lock the doors and so forth) I bought the car with the alarm preinstalled so I have no clue if there is any way to change it to my preference :dunno: ......btw..there is a switch inside the car but that only turns the sound on or off when the doors are locked or unlocked...
