Bylaw won't bother you unless
a) you live on a street that's plowed in winter or
b) someone complains.

you can get steel like that practically anywhere, go to a welding shop, as for scraps go to metal places that recycle

Calgary Metal doesn't sell to the public, plus they never answer the phones. Extremely frustrating place to try and get some info/help.

looks like just plain old flat stock to me :dunno:

Shouldn't be that hard to come by

Keep in mind if you put it up and some kid or somebody is riding their bike/skateboard/whatever, hits it, falls and gets injured, they can sue you (?homeowner's insurnace?) and win.

edit: happened to one my neighbors a long time ago

Wouldn't your HO insurance refuse to pay since the ramp was against city laws? :dunno:

No idea actually; I have no idea the specifics of what happened to them, just that some kid (this was like 8 or 10yrs ago) was riding his skateboard, hit the ramp, went flying, skinned his face pretty badly. They got sued and lost. :dunno:

Just wondering - yeah things have changed in the last decade with insurance... But I know they've gotten nasty on some stuff - know a guy who did a basement reno without permit/inspections- had fire damage from an upstairs plug (copper vs aluminum wire issue) catching fire. Ended up paying out of pocket because electrical was "modified without permits/inspection" - 2 floors away without any changes to that circuit... But...

And you know lawyers are going to eat up more than the 10k it cost him to just fix it...

pour gas/brake fluid/anything that leaks out of my car on your curb. It eats away at my driveway quite well I don't see why it wouldn't eat the curb away to something a little more manageable (might take a few months)....the city will take forever to come and repair it...and usually only if you complain about it

those things eat away asphalt, not concrete. Won't do shit to your curb.
