You think it was a replica?? There is a driving class at Race City, featured in Friday Herald a couple weeks back, where they teach in several replica Cobras. Very cool.

There are tonnes of replica Shelby's around. Did anything in particular make you think this was an original?

Is this the same car Nic Cage was trying to steal in Gone in Sixty Seconds?

No, Gone in Sixty is a Shelby Cobra GT500 (Mustang). Those are the sweetest V8s, truely one of the best muscle cars ever.

No, that was a 1967 Shelby GT. Shelby Cobra's are completely different.

Oops -- I pressed reply and was searching up the exact year of the car and Ferio_vti beat me to it ;)

This is what an AC cobra replica looks like. It was not an original, I think they only made 330 of them

Saw one in vancouver a couple weeks back with an intercooler

Here's the 427 daytona coupe version VERY rare to find an original, they only made a handful everyone you'll ever see is a replica:

What do you mean? Looks like an accurate replica to me, here's a couple photos of the 427 daytona coupe:

Do you mean this one? I think it was an early model, probably one of a kind:

Keep in mind, only 6 of them were made. I think the 6th one was found a couple years ago after being lost for about 30 years. It was totally trashed but someone still payed something crazy like a million bucks for it.

Oh yah, what else do you notice about the daytona coupes? They inspired the styling of the viper!

The early daytona coupes had a funny looking tapered tail on them, where the later ones had the rear end seen on the cars there. I'll try and find a picture of one.

the early ones what are you talking about 4wheeldrift

they made less than 10

i think it was 4 to be honest but i dont know

one of them burned so there are three

does anyone notice how similar the viper looks to one of those coupes

The first season they raced the daytona coupes, they had a tapered tail on the car, instead of the little duckbill spoiler like the pictures show. They found that the aerodynamics of the car were just as good with the dished rear end and spoiler as it was with the monstrous tail they put on them before so they stopped using it. I've got an article in a road and track magazine that details the history of the daytona coupes, I'll try and dig it out.
