Does Shell still have the reputation of selling the best gas in comparison to Esso, Husky, Mohawk etc?

If you ask Toma, he says it has yeilded some of the best results on the dyno, besides Husky 94 of course haha. I tuned my car on husky 94, and am running 91 shell, and have no detonation so far, so seems decent.

I switched from huskey to shell in my land rover and got about 80 more kms a tank.

I didnt notice any performance difference. But hey, its a land rover.

^^ same result here. I've gotten way better milage with shell premium compared to Husky/others.

Personally don't like using Shell in either my car or my ATV. Don't care in our truck because its a truck anyway and it doesn't really show a difference.

The Husky higher grades have ethanol which actually lowers mileage -- but is great for HP/Torque in a forced injection car.

As I recall, there was a thread here about it before. Shell does have the better gas IMHO. I've used P.Can and Esso also, and if i can't find a Shell station, then i use ESSO. Esso has great gas too. I found that P.Can has the worst and the get the worst mileage from them.

Chevron > Shell > Esso > everyone else.

I go with Shell or Petro-Can......Check this link out.

Shell gas contains no ethanol afaik, hence the better mileage numbers.

yes shell still maintains it's reputation for great gas. petro can is horrid and yields poorly with forced induction on the dyno.

the only places i fill up at are shell or husky/mohawk... sometimes CO-OP but thats only because they apparently are supplied by shell at some locations...

I worked as a assistant manager at a coop gas station for 3 odd years... I ordered the fuel directly from a Coop owned Refinery in Saskatoon. Where all Coop's get our gas. If the retail Coop gas station is unable to get gas from the Refinery, we take it from the Coop Cardlock stations.

I usually go with Esso.

I still miss the high octane Chevron fuel in BC though :( That stuff burned sooo slow, and made my engine feel like it was on steroids!

Really? I was told by the Macleod location manager that they got their gas from Shell, but without the Shell additives. Weird.

Interesting thread, wish there was some solid testing and facts to be found. A fine newspaper article for sure, along with the testing of the water at wand car washes in Calgary.

There you go lazy "journalists" AKA reporters, two topics and easy to make into a week long series for each.

Anyone know a Shell where they still have V-Power?

IMO shell has the best gas, i havent noticed any performance. but all my cars get better milege, and just seem to run smoother. if i had the choice in calgary tho i would always go with 94 chevron. im in bc right now using it constintly and absolutely loving it. ive noticed a lot of performance but thats cuz im at sea level, but i get almost a 100k more to the tank than with shell gas.

I say it really depends on the car.

My corrado ran like shit on petrocanada premium, but my sisters gti is the opposite.

Experiment and go from there

For those who want better mileage go with CO-OP. I've tried it on many different vehicles compared to shell and I yeild at least 50 more kms on a tank.

Search for an old thread where I tested every major fuel in town comparing how each one can handle boost and timing. This was back when Esso rated their premium at 92 octane when it performed WORSE than other 91 fuels. After complaining, they re-rated their premium to 91.

I find Co-op and Esso best for gas mileage in my teg. 580ishkm to a tank of 42ltrs.
Shell 91 is what I use in my track car but never yields good mileage for any of my daily cars I have owned 87 or 91.

I agree with this, I was tuned on 94 Husky, but I run 91 shell when I cant get to a Husky station.

My engine knocks really bad on shell, husky seems to be the best.

The shell on 32nd Ave across from the McCall Lake Golf Course still had V-Power as of yesterday. Thats the only one so far i've seen.

Ok, don't you all go fuel up on Shell at the same time. Both Shell on centre st N. is out of 91.

I have to go to Esso.

My car runs bad on Shell gas, and it seems to burn faster.
