I saw a white one the other day with numerous shovels and tools all over the side and hood. It was bad ass.

50k is quite an inflated price. You can buy those, in that shape, for under 15k usually. NAS units are expensive to buy (around the 50k price range), but they only came in V8 Auto.

The ex-army ones from medicine hat sell for as low as 8-ish, but they're N/A Diesel.

^ How do you get your hands on an EX-army one?

Im not 100% sure but alot of the times they go through auctions. Like the same auctions that might sell farm equipment for example. There was one awhile back where they had 6 of them. BATUS trucks are typically 110 (like above) but 2 door. They will be camo with a red top, have a very underpowered 2.5L Diesel minus the turbo to make room for the 24V Generator.

I was going to buy one a couple years ago, but I didn't realize how small and slow they were hahaha. But extremely tough trucks thats for sure.

Can get a restored old land cruiser in Diesel, but horrifically expensive . . .

The NAS 110 Defender was actually a manual - the LT77 transmission mated to the 3.9 V8. Likewise the first couple years they sold the Defender 90 here as well. It was only the later Defender 90 that ended up with the auto-only. They really are hideously expensive though.
