I'm pretty disappointed with the selection of cars this year. It seems they've decided to follow Foothills Hospital lotto, and go with houses instead of a better selection of auto's.

Are the tickets tax deductible?

Nope, since it's a lottery.

So the decent prizes are the home and cars (obviously), there are some nice cash ones as well... anyway, in total I'd say there are about 70 prizes worth winning.

127k tickets, 70 decent prizes = 1 in 1814 chance per ticket of getting a decent prize.

So if you buy the 5 pack of tickets for $375 that'd leave you a 0.2% chance.

How much of the $10.8M raised actually goes towards cancer research?

Love to see management ratio of all these lotteries. All these year I have not even won a toaster. If ratio is over 50%, I won't support these scams any more.

The last time I bought they had the konigsegg as the grand prize. After that the cars just went to shit.

Wow you weren't kidding, those prizes comparatively suck ass.

Does this not look like a possible scenario? Those houses are pretty tightly packed for being close to 1 mil. For that much I would be pissed off that I have to share a driveway with a neighbor, and having piled of shitty chipped wood everywhere.

$953,000 in 2006 maybe, but not now.

Yeah I was pretty disappointed when I saw the flyer for this years CaC.

Suprisingly the Childrens Hospital lotto had some decent cars this year, SVT Raptor, Corvette, etc etc.

:dunno:

I think most people would rather win a "million" dollar house, than a sports car that will cost a million in maintenance.

Any neighborhood that was build since 2006 is like that. That's why the last few fires always burn neighboring homes instead of containing to just one house.

$953K is furnished. Everything is inflated for donor's tax write off. It really depends on the location. A house that size in the Hamptons can run mid to high $800s. So they are not that far off if they furnish the place with nice stuff.

Didn't feel the need to start a new thread...

C&C lottery sucks ass again this year

Prize #1 House (cool) and a fucking Chrsyler 300? Lammmmeee
Prize #2 House (ok) and a Lexus ES350... meh
Prize #3 $500g
Prize #4 His and Her worst Mercedes in the current line up
Prize #5 F-250 and trailer... mehhhhh

And now the Cars (that should be cool, since it's 'Cash and Cars Lottery')

2012 Cadillac CTS Sedan
2012 Audi TT Coupe
2012 BMW 128i CabrioGhey
2012 Dodge Ram SLT
2012 Ford Mustang 5L
2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
2012 Mazda 3 GX
2012 X2 Segways

Seriously. Not ONE exciting vehicle in the line up (though there is a couple I would keep, but not exciting), and WTF with the Chrysler 300 in the "Grand Prize"?

Sorry C&C, you lose again this year. I'll save my money for Foothills.

Lowest price would be $65 a ticket if you buy 8.

Yeah no kidding about the 300 in the Grand Prize..

Lol, the cash value of the cars is all that matters. Who cares if they give away PT Cruisers? Just sell it and buy what you want.

I keep on getting emails from Kinsmen home lotto saying they are desperate for lotto sales in the last couple months. Today they are even extending their deadline with only 70% sold. :nut:

Not surprising, inflation has been pretty bad the 1st half of 2011. It probably knocked out a lot of potential players of these lotteries.

BTW, if the shitty prizes doesn't stop you from buying tickets, this will:

Yes, $ from this lotto goes to CCS. I'll stick with Foothills lottery. Thanks.

Wow, that's pretty bad. Only $0.22 form every $1.00 raised actually goes to research.

There is a reason why Terry Fox Foundation separated from CCS in 1998.

I like the detail you put into this, you're dedicated.

How much of that is used up by the prizes though?

I'll have to think twice about buying anything from this though, not impressed that only 22% is actually donated.

99% sure the prizes are donated and the company that donates get a fat tax receipt.

4) The minimum number of tickets that must be sold or minimum revenue generated before the Lottery is canceled or an extension requested, is any combination of the $100 individual tickets, sets of 3 for $250, sets of 5 for $375 and sets of 8 for $525 that falls under $8,033,930.41 in revenue or 78% of gross revenue.

If the prizes are worth $5M and they collected $10M. That's $15M. So the fundraiser ratio would be 33%?

Any accountants want to chime in on this?

If that's the case, any charities relies on lottery may have a higher than average management ratio.

And fundraising is almost a $1B industry, check out this database of management ratios of charities in Canada that use external fundraising firms.

The year they had the gave away a koeningsegg was the first year I bought a ticket for obvious reasons. Last year wasn't too bad but this year WTF!? the only car that's interesting is the 5L stang.

I know that they are for charity, and it is a good cause, but when it comes to the wages some of these charities pay their top brass, it makes me not want to buy tickets or donate.

I mean if you check out http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/chrts-gvng/lstngs/menu-eng.html

you can see what the top 10 employees at the charities make (In this case Alberta Cancer Society/ Canadian Cancer Society) the top person makes between 160,000-200,000 a year........

I mean let me tell you I was floored when I found out that the top person at the Red Cross makes between 200,000-250,000 dollars, and that they spend 175 million dollars annually on employee compensation.....

Makes me think twice before ever donating or buying tickets for this like this.
