So I was driving home today on the QE2 from Crossfield and my truck started lagging in 5th gear (I had to take my foot of the gas and re press it down) then all my caution lights on my dash came on and my truck started shaking like crazy. I pulled over popped the hood and got a weird smell coming from it but couldn't see anything that appeared to be wrong, so I re started it and the whole block started shaking and making very loud clicking noises. I honestly have not the slightest clue what this is, could this be a spun bearing, a rod, or just a piston that blew??

any help is much appreciated as I need this back on the road ASAP

They are notorious for throwing rod bearings haha. It sounds like one of your bearings got starved for oil.

crappy deal.

First thing I was gonna say was did you check the oil?

I had a guy at work spring an oil leak on the way into work in his Blazer (4.3L) and by the time he rolled into the parking lot at work, there was nothing but rod bearings in the pan.

its a 91 with a 2.2 L and has about 212,000 kms on it.
I checked the oil and there is plenty in there

Thats an extremely common engine. I cant tell you whats wrong with it, but I can tell you theres MANY replacements availiable.

i'm looking for the cheapest/quickest way to get back on the road, I don't even know/have the time right now to try and diagnose what is wrong with it, so yeah basically just looking for the cheapest way to keep it going, doesn't need to be pretty.

Wait, 2.2L? Sure its not a 2.5L?

Im not an automotive mechanic, but I'd say you'd need a new engine. PnP has plenty, for example.

ugh I was hoping not to have to sink money into this as I know i'm not going to be having it for more than a month longer, but i'm guessing that there is no other option probably

No no thanks very much Alak I appreciate it a lot,
it just pisses me off that it was supposed to be a vehicle that I didn't put a penny into and just was needed for a month and now i'm dropping a new engine into it :thumbsdow
