Over the last few months Ive been restoring a 1986 Corolla gts. With the help of a good friend of mine we did everything from swap in a new engine to weld in new rear quarters and strip the car of all rust then lowered it prepped it for paint then played with the timing to make the car even a bit more enjoyable. Here is the finished product as well as the original thread

I didn't like it at first but now its starting to grow on me and I really like the paint job. :)

Thanks for all the compliments guy..well the car has been lowered however I would like to replace the bushings. The eninge is a jdm red top with a few little mods..whos knows whats next for it

import restoration will be really hot soon... its already getting popular in the VW world.

and its going to make everyone wish they didnt mod their cars and toss the factory parts.

The interior metal was left alone, I think Ill do the door sills and hatch sills right away but under the hood its still the original color. I was going to pick up the kouki front last month but I decided to leave the stock one on until winter is over. The usdm stock one can take quite the beating

Ryan's friend sprayed the bumper but the rest of the car was painted at Maaco :)

Looking good....but I do have a comment.

Are you going to do the full "panda" style Trueno paintjob? Looks sorta off when the lower sides are all white and the black is not carried over from the front and rear bumper. Or maybe I watch way too much Initial D :)

My buddy is getting the silvertop for his 86 in a couple months. Is the red top better? All i know is that the one he's getting is the Supercharged silvertop with 20 valves running 165hp.

silvertops don't come supercharged
only the gze's and it has 160 factory rated horse power. FYI

Not knowing much about the Corolla, I don't really have an opinion on the car itself, but the restoration you have done on it is fantastic...nice job Mr. 3 car money bags! ;)

I contemplated the panda look but it isnt for me...I dont want to look like a copied initial D, I like the all white look much better anyways.

They are dishes dude and theyre 14inch so thats pretty mini...they also only weigh about 10lbs each
