Strange phone number from Newfoundland.

I received a call from the number 1-709-898-6969 today, I didn't answer it. When my wife got home she said she received a call from the number as well. Weird thing is that she hasn't changed her name yet and we aren't on any accounts together.

Then I googled it...


I just got a call from this number, and when I answered it said that because I was a valued Fido customer, I had just been selected to receive 3000 Fido dollars. To accept it, they wanted me to press 1. I hung up.


When I answered the call, I was told I had won points. I played along. when they asked if I had a credit card, I said yes the call went dead.

This is clearly a scam, I just thought I would let everyone know to be careful.

5:20 for me, driving so wasn't going to pickup anyway... Was a bit confused as to the number, wasn't an area code I recognized...
