Hey guys,

I have a quick question.

My neighbor has recently put in grass for his new house, but however he put in about 3 inches too much so its onto my side of the property. And at the same time, im in the process of doing some landscaping and I was wondering if there was any tools that I can purchase to cut the extra turf?

thanks

There is something called a sod knife that you can use, looks like this:

or even a sharp steak knife should work as well.

Or if the grass is too stuck to the ground your best bet is probably just a spade with a sharp end:

Use a sod knife, or a lawn edger:

Ask your neighbor to buy it for you :)

I would just leave it.

After one winter you will never see the overlap.

I used to always use an exacto (box cutter) knife but found the blades break pretty easy. Just go find an old kitchen knife, or one that your wife (or mom) doesn't mind getting dirty for a while. They work excellent. No need to go out and buy new tools for this.

just leave it will grow into each other if it hasnt already. how is the merge with your grass and your neighbors? I just did a job this summer and you cant even tell he had new sod.....it merge so nicely....but if you ever have that problem again use an exacto...those sod cutters are useless and any good landscaper doesnt use that garbage. and edger is only good if you are removing old sod....not new stuff...

dont use kitchen knives sorry dude that is the dumbest thing Ive heard. dont look stupid doing it. exactos only break if you havent snapped off the dull piece of knife thats why there little grooves in the knife so you can snap off the piece that is dull rather than throwing it all in the garbage. if its breaking off its cause the knife is to long. bring it down a knotch.
