I've been meaning to buy a bicycle computer for a while, and that cyclist thread totally reminded me.
Can someone suggest a good quality one that isn't too expensive? Mainly looking for a speedometer/trip odometer functions.
I found this at MEC, seems simple and has received positive reviews:

Anyone have any other suggestions or recommendations?

You could also get a bike-mounted GPS unit. They are a little more pricey but offer maps as well as the speedo/odo.

Would be nice to have the city's bike and top maps loaded onboard during a ride.

I picked this one up a while ago, but have only gone out once since I've installed it. I ordered it online, but found out last week that Bow Cycle has them.
I like the fact that it measures cadence as well as the usual speed/distance.

If you have an iPhone, use it with a bike mount. iMapMyRide app is free.

Buy POLAR.... It doesn't have the GPS in most models, but it has an altimeter, and everything you could possibly need... I love it

Its a Polar CS600

I use runkeeper pro on the iPhone. There is a free version that is pretty close to feature complete.

here is an example of what it records:

I put one of those on my last bike, it was awesome. I liked how simple it was to install. Everything about that cyclcomputer was well thought out.
