Okay so at the moment I have both phones and sometimes I like to use one over the other.

Only problem is, everytime i want to switch, I keep having to call up fido to change the data plan from iphone to blackberry

is there anyway to get around this? do you guys know if fido or any company offers a general data plan? And would a general data plan work for a blackebrry or iphone or does it have to be the specific one? Let me know thanks

How did your friend do it? did he just get a general plan and then mess with the settings?

You're mainly using your blackberry for bbm, right? Have you tried the app called Whatsapp? Blackberry users can download it for free and it works just like bbm. Iphone users have to pay $1.00 for the app but it works pretty well.

they require you to switch since they have to add BIS (bb Internet services?) for bbm, email to work and switch over to iPhone to make stuff like visual voicemail work, at least that's what I think, surfing and stuff shouldn't matter on whatever plan.

The only way around this is to stick with a iPhone data plan, but get Rogers/Fido to add the SOC code "APN3CON" to your account. That will allows you to access the BlackBerry APN servers without needing to change your iPhone data plan.

The only problem is that Rogers caught onto it, and got the CSRs to stop adding it for free. That doesn't you still can't try to get it added for free.

Call the Rogers wireless data department directly @ 1-866-931-3282 and try to get the APN3CON code added to your account for free. Explain to the data technicians that you want BlackBerry APN access using your current iPhone plan, and they should know what to do. Now whether they add it or not, that's another issue. If they don't, just hang up and call again.

But whatever you do, do not call *611, because the CSRs will have no idea what you're talking about, and will insist that you have to switch to a BlackBerry data plan.

Good luck!

I thought it was 2.99? That's why I couldn't convince my buddy to get it?

I switch between my 9700 and iPhone4 all the time. Got an adapter for the microsim, pop it in and good to go.
My plan only has the 500mb berry + email etc but still lets my iPhone use the same data

Well it was free when I downloaded it on my friend's blackberry. Maybe it's free right now?

On the back end of things it should be the same. You're going to have to do your own research on that. Try Howard Forums.

For berrys, it's free for one month, then you have to pay $3/year.
