Went to fill up at Husky on 32 and Barlow today and now they are out of 94. Last time I went to the 14 St Husky they were out of 94 as well as the North one by Country Hills. Anyone know what's going on and if there are any stations that have got 94 back in?

I hate putting 91 in the EVO.:(

I had to put 91 into the RSTi last week...it was the first time in awhile the Coventry Husky was out of 94. If I remember to look on my way by tonight I will let you know if they have some again.

I was down south yesterday and I had to stop at 3 gas stations before I could even find 91 octane. All they had was regular. Do we have a gas shortage or something in Calgary right now?

I assume the local gas stations get their gas from the Husky Ram River gas plant. Maybe there is a turnaround or something going on and they only have enough to supply regular? The 14 Street Husky has been out of 94 for over a month now so something's up.

Wrong type of gas is gathered at Ram River, more the natural, home heating kind.

Lack on decent gas over the summer makes one wonder what is up, maybe it time to allow new capacity

It's... IN MY CAR!

All kidding aside, the one on 14th, just north of DT has been out of 92/94 for a while now.. The one in Beddington has some..

I know that Shell/Coop/Husky have been having problems keeping Medium/Premium in stock.. Due to higher demands. I know Shell's one refinery is still out after being shut down in.. Oct?

it seems pretty staggered so far. At least there is some 94 somewhere in the city at all times.

I've been calling around first before I head out for a fill up. myhusky.ca has all of the locations.

The husky on Barlow and 7th Ave N (near T&T Honda) had some as of Sunday.

myhusky is useless.. I tried to query for all the 24hr places, told me there was one down the street.. And no, it closes at 11. (Dalhousie).

Only 24hr husky I ever found was on Barlow and 32nd.. The truck stop.

yes but for the purpose of finding out phone numbers to call ahead and check if they still have 94, it's better than google map's out of date / inaccurate contact info.

Out hunting for 94 before work, I ended up at a random Husky somewhere near Bowness yesterday morning. Turns out it was a full-service station, which I've honestly never used - I thought they got rid of them all years ago.

Anyway, they didn't have any 94 either. It was made extra weird by having to explain why I was leaving to an actual human instead of just closing my gas door and taking off.

Why waste your money? You aren't going to get any better performance on that car with 94 in fact you would probably get more performance from Shell 87 as it has higher BTU. You only need high octane gas on high compression and forced induction engines.

I live close to the Husky in Cochrane and they might as well remove the 94 pumps from the station. They have 94 once or twice a month and only for an hour or two until it's gone again. Next time I'm going to raid the place with 6 jerry cans.

I checked the Husky at Coventry and they were out of 92/94 octane gas. They have seemed to be out for a while now. And when I drive by the Husky on Barlow right across the street from the airport, I swear they have those damn red "Not Available" stickers on the 92/94 octane buttons. I'll need to fill up this weekend, hopefully the 32nd Ave and Barlow Husky still has it.

I think the Huskys have them now. I checked Coventry today and filled up on 94 octane. I also called the Husky by 32nd Ave and Barlow and they said they have it as well.

94 Can be hard to find. Does anyone have a preferrence as to which premium fuel you use? I quiet like Shell V Power but with no scientific explanation. Somehow I feel better with it than Safeway 91 Octane

I've never had a hard time getting it on Southland/Anderson and Elbow. But they've been out for at least 2-3 weeks now. Canyon Meadows had some about a week ago, but now is out as well.

Saw this on the evo forums. The guy is from BC so hopefully its only in BC.

Was a sad day last week when I pulled into a Husky station. They had 91 stickers on top of all their 94 pumps and even the gas attendant didn't know. Emailed customer support and here's what I got

Dear customer,

Thank you for your e-mail regarding our 94 Octane fuel. The discontinuation of our premium 94 Octane fuel comes as a result of changes to regulations that restrict the Reid Vapour Pressure (RVP) of gasoline. RVP measures the volatility of gasoline. In short, the addition of ethanol to gasoline adds to the overall RVP of the product.

For some time, Husky has received special allowance to produce and distribute our ethanol-blended 94 Octane gasoline; however, this allowance is no longer in place and as a result, our suppliers have chosen not to continue to provide Husky with our premium fuel.

The unfortunate outcome, as you've experienced, is that we can no longer provide our ethanol-blended premium fuel to our customers. Husky still supplies high-quality, ethanol-blended regular & mid-grade (87 & 89 Octane) and 91 Octane (no ethanol) fuel at most locations across the province.

We know this is a disappointment and for this, we apologize. We sincerely hope that you will continue to choose Husky and Mohawk for our other exceptional products and services, as well as for your refuelling needs.

Kind Regards,

Husky Customer Service

That really blows if we are going to lose our only better than 91 octane gasoline. Not sure if the regulations would vary by province or not.

Time to buy cars like Sonata 2.0t. 274hp, 87 octane required :poosie:

I'm sure if they can make it work no reason other manufacturers can't.

So the engine is detuned for 87? Makes you wonder how much it could make tuned for 91+. It's a 4B11 so it's obviously direct injection that has alowed them to lower the octane requirement as my 4B11 would go ping, ping, ping on 87.

I bought 94 the other day. The Husky on Barlow and 32nd NE has never been out when I have been there.

Well, that would blow. 94 is the shit for boosted stuff.... My stang went 9.2's at 151 mph on it straight.

Well, there is always water injection.... put that on the Slivia a couple weeks ago with the 3275 psi AC pump. Works killer.... but everyone wonders why there is an inverter under the hood lmao.

Don't know the details but yeah that's one of their big selling points for the new engine. Time will tell how well it will work with DI, high boost, regular gas in a mainstream sedan.

Shitty deal! I definitely felt a difference 91-94. Looks like i'll be switching back to Shell V Power, no point getting ethanol in gas if you don't have to.

At least winter and cold air is coming, so my car will run about the same.

It varies, according to Airboy if you are tuned for it you can see around a 15whp gain.

What makes you think AB doesn't have 94?:dunno:

Sounds from the letter like a provincial thing to me. In the last sentence he mentions the fuels that are still available in the province

At least BC's still got Chevron. A lot of people in trouble though if it happens here.

Was just contacted by Husky, and the good news for everyone is that:

Currently Husky still supplies 94 Octane in Alberta. Legislation and supply will be two components of any decision to discontinue 94 Octane in Alberta. At this time, Husky has no plans to divest from offering 94 Octane in Alberta.

You are being way too paranoid. A little bit of 89 or 91 isn't going to matter that much unless your car is tuned to the very edge for 94 Octane which wouldn't be very smart in the first place.

Shell 91 > Husky 94 ethanol will eat up the gas lines/injectors unless the car is 'flex fuel' designed like GM's and so on.

bart
02-09-2011, 03:31 PM
i don't really think that's true..., husky says no more than 10%, anything under 15% will be fine. i want max power ;)

LilDrunkenSmurf

Won't eat up the gas lines or anything like that, however the ethanol is less fuel efficient, so Chevron 94 will run better and go further than Husky 94.

BUMP from the dead.

So I may be traveling to the US and I was wondering if 93/94 octane is common down there?

My car is tuned for 93 octane so it's best to know before I leave if I need to switch the map beforehand.

Too general of a question, depends on where you are. For example, in Colorado, you'll have a hard time finding anything over 91 (regular is 85 octane) due to elevation. In California, race gas is everywhere.

Everything else, it's somewhere in between lol.
