Just bought a new tv that I just noticed that it doesn't have video inputs only audio and hdmi inputs.

So, I have a ps3 and a 360 but I don't want to play my audio thru the tv, I want it thru the surround sound but my receiver is a little older and it doesn't have hdmi inputs, but it does have optic inputs!. Wtf can I do? Please help!

buy a new receiver. or run your components from xbox/ps3 to your receiver. then video out to tv

Ya I was thinking about getting a new receiver but I dunno. Can't run video to the tv, there are no video inputs. All audio and hdmi

My ps3 has an optic output, I don't know if the newer slim ones do though. So that could potentially solve the ps3 problem, as for the xbox you'd need to run component cables with seperate audio cables to the receiver if you can.

It does have the optic so do I run optic to the recvr from the ps3, what do I use for video? Or is the optic both like an hdmi? I don't know a lot about this shit, sorry

Run the video signal straight to your tv, not as convenient as having your receiver switch the video and audio.

Means you'll be switching audio on receiver and video on tv every time you change source, more button presses.

hook up the hdmi to the tv, and then optical to the reciever. Disable HDMI audio. Both 360 and ps3 have optical out.

The TV should have an audio output, most likely a digital coax or fiber optic output. It's not the best way to do it but you should be able to run everything into your TV and if its a newer tv it should be able to strip the audio from the HDMI inputs and send them to the receiver with a digital output. Post the model # of the TV.
