They are lower end, but they aren't BAD. I used a sony deck for over 2 years and never had a single problem with it - although it lacked features. Their subs do get pretty loud but their amps aren't that great.

For a cheap low end Sub, the xplod really isnt that bad.

If you can get some of there older ES stuff then go for it. They are so very HQ gear. The Sony C90 is on of the best SQ decks on the market.

sony took a big drop in quality after the mobile es line was cut from the lineup, now their amps and speakers suck nutz.

i did however buy a sony 610, two sided flip face. Had it for two years and tehn one day overheated and burnt up melting the face off of it. What a POS!

Clarion's rock. I don't really have a strong preference for any aftermarket stereo manufacturer, but if I did shop for a particular brand, it would be Clarion :D

As for how good Sony's are, they certainly aren't the best, but if you don't know a whole lot about the system and you like the sound, who really cares?

sony xplod subs r pretty good, not exactly meant for pounding ur block, but very clear and good jus for enhancing music, not for poundin ur brains out tho:thumbsup:

I really don't post here much, but you guys need to get a clue. It's 90% install and 10% product, or should I say 90% knowledge and 10% install.

Back in the day, ES, XS(if you are old enough to remember) were the best gear out there. No question about it. I love the C90. It's how many years old, but still used in comps to this day.

But I have to disagree with some ppl hear. I have owned tons of gear, and with the right install Sony subs can sound alright. In my experience, I got my sony subs to pound, real loud, but they sounded like ass doing it. They could handle assloads of power too, I threw like 1100 watts rms to one, and it held up for a week, until the cone cracked and became a paper weight.

Overall there is so much out there that performs better than sony subs at the same price. Adire's Tempest, eD's K series, etc. I wouldnt buy sony again, but lets not forget, we all started somewhere...funky pup anyone?
