commuting to Mount Royal Uni

Previously I've always bussed to MRU from the NW but now I'll be driving. I have two questions, maybe someone has experience.

Coming from the NW, the obvious route would be crowchild to get to MRU, but in the early mornings I can see that being counter productive. Does anyone have any alternate routes that save time?

Also, is anyone aware of any no-tow away parking near the school, doesn't even have to be right beside it. Just within walking distance.

I used to go Shag to Memorial/Bowness rd to Crowchild, so you wont be on Crowchild the whole time. Could also take Sarcee to Richmond or Glenmore, depending where in the NW you are. Used to be free parking by the church, but you would have to get there quite early. The church used to sell semester passes for a fraction of the cost on campus.

I went there a few years back, so some info might be outdated.

^ The church bumped their pricing up. The free parking is in those new developments near the fire hall. It's a ways away, and actually more convenient to take the bus.

It really depends where in the nw your coming from. I would take Stoney>16 Ave>Sarcee>Richmond Road. Sometimes 14 street doesn't seem to be too bad, > memorial > crowchild.

Alternative route for you....

Shaganappi all the way down to bowness road
take it east merge onto crowchild...
and you miss all the congestion that happens between mcmahon stadium and memorial drive...

I lived in Hawkwood when I started at MRC and there really isn't a way to avoid crowchild, going up Sarcee is fairly out of the way (and the only other option).

When I lived in Tuscany this is the route I always took at peak times, cutting up through the neighborhood is great to skip the lights on Sarcee that really back up.
