Detached garage has two single doors. Got one done a few years ago by Glenmore Doors, excellent service and price. Called them again to get the other one done and its been the complete opposite. Had to nag the guy to finally come out to get an estimate and never has returned calls or even left an estimate. So fuck them.

Looking at getting a new door and opener put in. Anyone in town you'd recommend?

Just gut a custom door made by Thermocraft, it is T-12 with 6 windows with inserts, 7 feet 9 inches high and 16 feet wide, cost me $1600 all in, was a custom order from Totem. Installed it myself. Also, check out the 3800 Garage door oppener, it is a sidemount and is feaking sweet. Picked it up brand new from ebay from a guy from lethbridge for $350 shipped, smoking deal for an advanced professional opener.

I just called glenmore doors last week, spoke to a nice lady. Had one of the best prices. About $735 for a single door installed, steelcraft T-12.

I used "Calgary Overhead Door" for mine. (recommended by my parents). Seemed pretty reasonable to me.

Totem's got a sale on right now. Just don't call the Edmonton Trail location because the guy that handles it there will never call you back :banghead:

Glenmore Doors has shitty service. When I was building my house it took over a month just to get a quote for what I wanted. That being insulated garage door, double paned glass, and a liftmaster 3800 jackshaft operator. After trying on my own and getting absolutely nowhere after at least half a dozen calls. I had to get my builder involved. As soon as they called - they were able to get me the price right away.

During construction they installed the completely wrong door had to tear it out and start over. Doesn't bother me, in-fact I took pleasure at laughing at them waste money.

Now I'm happy, but the hassle I went through just to get a price was ridiculous.

I think their sale is only on their Garage Packages, not just the doors , but they have a normal priced 9'x7', R10 insulated, door for $533, which is pretty decent.

16x7' is for sure on sale right now.

Totem usually has really good pricing on the T12/T16s. Honestly when I need to buy a steelcraft product - I order it through them; because it's cheaper than buying direct & they're able to deliver on-time (it's a problem with direct - can sometimes be delayed 6+ weeks).

That said - as an installer / service tech; they're the bottom of my list of preferences to install/service. I'll leave my comments at that...

Any of you guys had experience installing a door? I have 2 single doors and one needs to be replaced. Looks like I'll need tracks and everything. Just wondering if its something a fairly handy person could figure out on their own or not?

Lots of experience :)

You always replace tracks and all - kinda needed with the new safety crud they throw on now.

If you can run a level and an impact (or drill) you can do it - but there's a lot of fiddly little stuff that makes the difference between a pro and a homeowner installed unit

Can anyone do it cheaper than I'm being quoted?

16x7' door: 799
install: 205
Low headroom kit: 73
Low headroom install: 105
Delivery: 75
Disposal of old door: 150

Yikes.

So AndyL crushed the quote I got, by a lot, and did a great job

i called glenmore doors, they wouldnt work my garage since its "cinder block" and would not guarantee that it will be straight.

Well, I have a 10'x10' (estimated) door that i would love to have on a remote operator. Huge PITA to go around the building to open the door from the inside.

I am just not sure about the weight. They are heavy panels. I am not sure if it would be worth it, but it would be worth pricing out anyway.
