View Full Version : $30,000 for a 2000 S15 Silvia???

I have messaged this guy a couple of times about his car. Instead of explaining anything he gets defensive and rude. I want to know a couple of things.

1. How did he managed to register a 10 year old JDM import. He says that the car is registered for the road in ontario...

- from what I have been told the vehicle needs to be 15 years old or older to import it into Canada. The only loop hole that I have heard of is importing it in pieces and putting it back together to register it as a modified vehicle.

2. Why is the car worth $30,000??

- his explaination was that "it is an s15 not an s14 and it is a far superior car"....sorry this doesn't work for me.

Is there someone out there that can shed some light on this for me please??

Here is the link to his add on Kijiji.

I was going to say you can import, but not register the car. It does have a plate on it so WTF?:dunno:

it's pretty simple. the guy is asking too much so don't buy it

I am not going to buy it but I wouldn't mind knowing how he can apparently register vehicles that are newer than 15 years...I would love an R34 now without having to wait 5 more years...

How'd he get it in the US though when they have even tougher import laws? It's probably sketchy hence he won't answer questions or else he'll get the DMV knocking on his door.

And damn does the rear end look like the 99+ grand am's back.

This along with only a handful other S15's must have gotten through with MOTOREX before they closed down.

Have a read. From an ancient beyond.ca thread:

so basically it's still illegal in canada like the r34's (unless you find some major loophole)

Definately an S15. I know there is a silver one registered in vancouver, don't ask me how...

Anyone know when the earliest production date for the Spec R was? As far as I know it's '99 which means we have to wait till 2014.

i thought other loopholes existed such as if you went abroad (bought this car) lived aboard for X amount of years, i think like 5 or 10, then when returning to canada you can bring your vehicle aquired back home and drive it fine.

I thought that rule was that you could bring your car into canada if you are here for school or something, but you can only have it here for max 5 years?

And remember guys, any person can bolt any license plate to any car. What it has on it in the pics doesnt mean much IMO.

Spec R 1999-2002. Looking on how bad exchange rates are, these things would be pricey to import

So I can bring in a LHD 2003 530i M-package and register it?

Apparently this is his third S15 this summer alone. (so says he)

His last message to me was pretty clear, he has no intention of explaining how he has been able to register it and according to him he is making a huge premium on the car...really? because I thought he was giving it away at that price...

I wonder if it is possible to register it as a modified vehicle? :dunno:
