A fellow off another forum shipped me this helmet from Melbourne Australia. I have a good dozen different caricatures and items to draw on it as well as my own special touch. Thought I'd post up a thread keep you all updated as progress goes on!

Great work Evo - looks amazing.

However; I don't mean to burst anyones bubble, but I do believe you're not supposed to paint or add stickers to Motor cycle Helmets. Apparently the chemicals in Paint/Varnish/Glue can interfere with the integrity of the Helmet.

Apparently the chemicals in Paint/Varnish/Glue can interfere with the integrity of the Helmet. Actually that's not the case with my work. I also tape over safety rating stickers (snell dot etc) and they don't get a single spec of paint or clear.

And if glue and paint interfered they wouldnt use it on the helmet in the first place. The paint i use is krylon acrylic enamel. Which is water soluable. That doesn't have any properties that are anyway acidic or decompositing toward the integrities of the helmet. When my urethane clear is applied over top it's got a layer of paint underneath, it doesn't have any abilities to soak through and harm. If you do a bit of reading you'll find out that it's not a bad thing to do. I know alot of guys who ride with airbrushed helmets that go through vigorous sanding with machine, and full out automotive primers, paints and clearcoats and some of them even wiped at the track and the helmet held up like it was supposed to. Besides the helmets im doing are for drag racers, so even IF that was a problem with the chemicals, they are drag racing lol

Edit: typo ive read about it too everybody keeps saying that im making the helmet unusable, but in reality there is such a small sanding. I'm only sanding away a tiny of the clearcoat on the helmet for paint to stick
