how has your work improved over the years?

so I decided to look at mine.
I havent been at this long but my first time with a dSLR was I borrowed a friends he gave me a quick 10 minute lesson on using the camera and came up with this:

This photo was taken on August 3, 2009 using a Canon EOS 20D.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2623/3916627858_ce41db17cd.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/fotobygordo/3916627858/)
IMG_4245 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/fotobygordo/3916627858/) by fotosbygordo (http://www.flickr.com/people/fotobygordo/), on Flickr

Now I have gone from that to shots like these

This photo was taken on September 5, 2010 using a Canon EOS 30D.

Havocskies (http://www.flickr.com/photos/fotobygordo/4973385888/) by fotosbygordo (http://www.flickr.com/people/fotobygordo/), on Flickr

it is really cool to see how I have improved in only a year.
Bought my first dslr (rebel XT) late september 2009
and look forward to improving even more over the next year

I'll post mine tomorrow when I have more time to go through and find a really terrible one that I used to think looked amazing. Quite a dramatic difference, I assure you. Nice progress for you though, good job!

1999:
I'm almost embarrassed to post something from the first wedding. It is so horrible. Shot on Ilford Delta.
-Terrible light, needed some serious flash to get rid of the splotchy exposures on the faces, or chould have turned them around and put the sun to their backs
-Terrible groom posing - hand not engaged, head cocked too much, foot position not properly set
-Terrible bride posing - holding flowers way too high, dress left randomly strewn about
-There is half a bridesmaid on the right... WTF?
-Camera position is terrible, shooting at eye height
I could go on and on and on.
On top of that, I rented another camera from Vistek for the shoot because I only had one at the time (Manual focus Canon AE-1, still use it). I rented a Pentax autofocus camera. The stupid AF was so poor half the photos were OOF. Turned me off of AF for years until I finally went digital.

And now to the point where people are approaching me for bigger profile commercial work, like photographing the Premier El Stelmach and all the opposition leaders
http://www.nightanddayphoto.ca/misc/forumpics/beyond/thenNow/191459_3224.jpg

Or larger scale federal level projects... this is for a national campaign for the RCMP on electrical safety

It was crazy, we pulled police, fire, ambulance resources for the shoot

Nice improvement! Although a lot of the pics here have improved mostly due to equipment changes as well.

Keep moving forward, people!
