So I haven't watched the Simpsons since season 16, as they were getting pretty f'ing stupid and dim-witted with the writing.

The other night I watched one while at the gym that wasn't too bad (the one about the Ogdenvillians, obviously aimed at mocking the illegal immigrant situation in the U.S.). It still had some pretty dumb parts, but enough good ones to make me laugh.

So what are some other ones of the past 5 seasons that are actually good?

None.

If you want funny solid writing, watch Southpark.

There hasn't been a good Simpsons episode since 1997 or 1998.

+1 for the Treehouse of horrors episodes.
There's a torrent out there with all of them in there.

Exact same boat here. I originally also despised South Park when I was younger, but now that I am older I can truly appreciate the sheer amount of satire oozing from both of those shows.

and I also used to hate Family Guy...and I haven't watched it since the first couple episodes because I still hate it. I see enough in commercials to know I still hate it :D

Watched it last night. Lisa's smilie face hallucinations was the only thing remotely funny.

Fucking Fox turning Simpsons into another bland, non-satire comedy. It was the only reason they managed to keep their crappy network going, BECAUSE it was hilariously satirical, and had just enough edge to make it funny back in the day.

Swing and a miss on Homer and gang, not a laugh since the 90's. Oddly, I watched 20 minutes of SNL last weekend, it was funny. Have not watched the show (other than the bands) in at least a decade as it was total crap. Giving SNL a second shot this weekend.

Haven't watched Simpsons regularly in years. I haven't seen a single new episode that I've liked. I've seen a few of the new season here and there but they've all been horrible.

Pretty sad when nothing in the last 13 to 14 seasons have anything as good as these 2 words:

<"Dental plan">....

Well ya the thread asked for the best episode in the past 5 years and that is it! however sad and unfunny it has become I totally agree! Personally I love anything that Conan wrote or co-wrote. Still though the old episodes? kiddin me? one of the funniest shows of all time IMO. ps. SNL is very funny lately..... Finally.
