been curious about Pacini, which opened up a few months back. Kind of in a off little area, but looks like a nice place.

Me too! Haven't been yet, so did some digging and these might help: http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/15/1523097/restaurant/Northeast/Pacini-Restaurant-Calgary

Our local food critic John Gilchrist gives it 5/10 and calls it an "Italian Earls"

It's a Quebec chain and this is the first they've opened outside of the province.

Mixed bag of opinions so far....

Edit to add: You can listen to John Gilchrist's review on CBC here: http://www.cbc.ca/eyeopener/restaurant.html

I were there for brunch with a group of 12 people...unfortunately, I probably won't be going back any time soon.

Service was okay to say the least.
- took forever to order our drinks
- waiter spilt coke over one of my friends (although, he was fairly quick to clean that up)
- took an even longer time to take our food order...apparently he was waiting for everyone to be seated. Having said that, everyone was kind of waiting on him and got impatient so they proceeded to the bread bar.

Food
- Bread bar is probably Pacini's drawing feature. It unique
- Food is sub-par. It is not fresh. In fact, my microwave is a better chef

After everything was said and done, we complained to the manager. He was very professional and wanted to us to give Pacini another chance. Unfortunately, not all of were from Calgary.

We were with a big party so I wont comment on the service.

The food was original, but as said, the bread bar is amazing.

The look of the place is very nice, super high ceilings makes it very comfortable.

Id go back.

Am I the only one who wasn't a fan of the bread bar?
Slices of sandwich bread with a garlic, sun dried tomato, or pesto spread.
Other than that, I thought it was a pretty decent place and would go back.

damn, it MUST be terrible if gilchrist gives it a 5. he's probably the most over-optimistic food critic i've ever read. aside from manzo, of course.

I've been.

I do work for the Acclaim from time to time and had a manager treat me to lunch. The place is new and even though it is no excuse the service was sub-par due to the in-experience.

Service 3/5

The food I will give a 5/5

The atmosphere was 5/5

As for the bread bar. I thought it was great. It is nothing special I guess but it was better then not having a bread bar for free. I don't see how people could complain about it?

I will absolutely go back.

I go often with family and we skip out on the bread bar. Not a fan of it even though it's free.

I've been a couple times. Once when it opened and again just recently. I really like this place. I found the food, service and atmosphere all very good. Gilchrist should go again. 5/10? Not a chance.
