Anyone have one of these?

I used to have one so that way the mechanic couldn't screw me around.

Its also good protection against false claims.

Theirs kits you can buy that tell your speed, location record back and forwards even sides. My insurance company now offers really good discounts if you have one of these.

i have an auto driving cam on my carputer. What discounts would insurance possibly give?? say the car is stolen, unless i have a wireless internet feed to my phone or home pc, (possible, but internet for a car is like 40$/month, bahahah yea right) the cam would really be useless

Im running a DVR in my car and I leave it on in the daytime when Im parked. Cost me about $300 to buy the parts on eBay. The system records to a 16GB SD card, which is good for about a week on 30 fps. It only records when there is motion.

You can buy a DVR recorder and CCD camera (make sure you get CCD, CMOS cameras have shitty quality) on eBay then wire it up. Dont forget to add a voltage regulator inline. If you want more than 1 camera, you can get multi-channel based units, but due to the increased power consumption, it wont be feasible to leave these units on all the time.

^Nah, pretty much any modern DVR will have that feature. The big thing to look for in a DVR is that it has a function to automatically delete older footage.

is the cam pointing into the cab? or out in front?

It's mounted under my rearview mirror pointing front and Ive also installed a wide angle lens. The problem with mounting the camera here though, is that out on a hot day the camera will get REALLY HOT. I've actually had to mount a small heatsink + fan (powered by solar) to cool it down during the summer.

I also wonder if I am eligible for insurance discounts :dunno:

I have some sample driving videos here:
