Posting this for a friend since registration is closed...

He has a 1989 skyline gts-t twin cam 24 valve and is wondering what are some good upgrade paths for more power for this vehicle?

Tell him to check out the http://www.gtrcanada.com forums. It is a very resourceful website for all skyline owners.

rb25 swap, gt35r, shall i go on?

haha it depends on what hes looking for in terms of power. I personally dont think the rb20 is a good platform, its fairly limited, and for the size, i just have no interest in it. An sr20 can make the same power, and it doesnt have the massive footprint that the rb series does. You can upgrade the turbo and injectors, and run engine management, but realistically, you are going to make around 300-350 horsepower.

The rb25 is a great plan if you are looking to have a stable platform for more power in the future, that and it has more hp and torque than the rb20 to start out with. Throw a big turbo and injectors on that badboy, and the sky is the limit. Like i said, your friend needs to decide what he wants, before he goes about finding out how to get it.

No, the gts-4 is all wheel drive 4 door i believe. GTR is the only all wheel drive besides that. Gts-t is RWD.

in that case..

Intake, exhaust, boost controller.

Change out the head gasket as well as all the other gaskets on the engine, major flush of all fluids and place new ones.

The car will run like a champ/ will be begging to go sideways (if thats your friends goal)

Basic maintenance also included like plugs and wires aswell.

theres 3 performance things you should do, but I would save them for last and do everything else I mentioned above. Youll have a more reliable car in the end.

A boost controller is probably unnecessary with the stock ceramic turbo. Stock boost is 7 psi, with intake and exhaust mine boosts to 12 psi and I have heard they like to blow up at about 14 psi.

GTS-4s came as coupe body styles as well. Heard the transmission on the 4s are garbage though, but I've never driven one so I have no idea.

research and set a budget.

otherwise we could all build you a fantasy build.
