I would like to rent for an afternoon, leave the church and possible a couple wedding pictures. Is there anyone out there! The porsche club in Calgary will not help, the NSX club of north america was a waste of time. Can't find a decient renatl in the damn city. Come on who doesn't want to make a couple bucks. I'm a good driver honestly! Someone hook me up!

You might have better luck not presenting it as "who doesn't want to make a couple bucks?".

For a couple hundred dollars, it is hardly worth risking damage to an exotic car with a stranger. If you were offering $2000+ and had your own full insurance with a massive deposit, you may be able to use that as a lure.

i am pretty sure that you can rent limos and stuff here in calgary!!
maybe you should check with some car rental services..they might have some exotic cars and stuff!!
i dont think anyone will rent you their own exotic car....!
by the way
congratulations on the wedding!
and i hope you know

Try Budget in calgary they rent porsche, BMW last year they had a ferrari spyder for rent. you pay your own insurance and give them a 5000 deposit plus the rental of the car at least that was what it was in toronto when I rented a viper gts

Search, I know there is a place or two in Calgary who rent exotic cars. I swear I saw some posts on here about it.

thanks for your wisdom E36! Of course I am fully insured.....and will be willing to provide a deposit. I thought that was a given. I would like to do something a little different. If you are in fear of car being damaged I would gladly recommend that the owner come along for the ride. I'm not trying to skimp out the only problem is that I would prefer not to rent a corvette and be let down. (nothing against corvette owners). I am kind of at my witts end. There must be someone out there that can help.

Sure you're fully insured... for YOUR car. If I lent you my car, and you crashed it, your insurance does NOT cover it.

My insurance does. Which will go up huge for several years. With cars in the $100k range, when premiums go up, expect to pay like $6k a year on premiums. Not to mention the loss in value from a damaged car. I can safely say that if you crashed my car, I could be out $20k over five years easily.

Or maybe you'll bag the shit out of it and reduce it's life (in my case I wouldn't care cuz I bag the shit outta my car). Those Porsche and NSX owners baby their car, never redline, etc.

So do you see why those guys are so reluctant to lend you their cars?

But hey, if you want to borrow my AMG, $5k fee for a full day (wear and tear), $30k deposit in case you crash it. I also have a 500+hp Porsche 944 turbo available, $8k for a full day (that includes a tank of 103 octane fuel so you can use all the power), and replacement value deposit of $40k.

I wish Calgary was more like Vegas, you can rent a 355 Spider for like $1000 for a night.

There's too much at risk for the owner so unless the renter is willing to fork over the $$$ or sign some form stating he will reimburse the owner at a set price should his negligence cause a collision, then no deal! haha

Just like when people wanted to test drive my S2K with summers on ice/snow, I told them to pay me if they crashed it and they all said no:rofl:

Anyway, question about Vegas rentals, how much deposit do you need for that 355 Spider:bigpimp:

hahaha rage2 you are fucking hilarious. If you had bothered to read on, you may have noticed that I also stated that the owner was more than welcome to accompany myself and my bride as romantic as that is. I have no problem with frontin some cash to be driven around. If you have met my wife then you know there is no way that I could speed (5 or more over limit) nor could I bag on anyones car. Honestly thank you for the posting, I suppose I have an excellent understanding for why people are hesitant to lending their cars. I could have done without the sarcasim, as I'm not a punk 18 year old looking to joyride in someones car. To those that took the time to post some constructive thought thanks and the search will continue.

Most places want $15k USD deposit + you have to prove to them that your insurance will cover any loss. It usually isn't a big deal, cause oyu can combine credit cards to make the deposit.

How was I sarcastic? I made you an offer and explained how I came up with the numbers. I have no idea who you are, or who your wife is, or your driving habits, so I'm gonna protect myself before trusting a stranger.

BTW - your letter to the Porsche club made it into their newsletter. I'll scan it tomorrow and post it :).

All of them are owned. Canadians can't rent Ferrari's in Vegas because our insurance works differently than US and doesn't cover rentals properly.

Why not? $5k for a full day is dirt cheap! By the time your wedding day comes along, the AMG will be making about 450hp. Lots of fun, awesome deal IMO.

Cool, I'll have to call around next time. I went to Rent-a-Vette, and they refused to give me the F360. I spent an hour there calling up my insurance, and all sorts of BS. Ended up renting the S2000 for a week.

hah. I've been to Rent-a-Vette actually. The way I handle it now is just to book in advance, get everything faxed over and approved, have them call the insurance company, etc. I have it much easier though, since I live in California and have car insurance there. My insurance company will insure me driving anything, and have written a nice letter to that effect :)

Best place to rent a car is still 310 in L.A. You can get modified vehicles (mostly cosmetic) at about the same price as stock stuff elsewhere.

Here's an idea. Save the thousands on the exotic and the big wedding party, and go to Hawaii or other hot spot to get married. That'll pay (more or less) for airline tickets and accommodations for the wedding party, and then you can stay for the honeymoon. Any guests can come at their own expense.

What dealership in thier right mind is gonna give you a $200,000+ car to "test drive" especially for 24 hours and put xxxx amount of Kilometers on it?

This is not a freaking saturn. You can pull that crap at Canadian tire with parts etc. but not with a car.

While a Lambo or little Porsche may do wonders for you, you may want to look at it from the new Mrs. Joeyjoejo's side. Being crammed into the car in a wedding gown is not going to be in the the top 10 things to do. Perhaps Rage's lap may compensate enough, but I doubt it. :poosie:

Couple years ago I had a S60 T5 for a weekend when we were thinking about buying one, that car was in the $60 g range, same with Acura TL-s...

yea. but a TL-S although still a nice car is in no way an exotic. Typically dealers wont let you rack up mile on one. Its and exotic if you want it you will buy with no hesitation as teh care reputation is enough to warrant that it is what you paid for, there may be slight exceptions if the car was used in this case, but that would be it. Shit you couldnt even get an S2K to test drive for 5 minutes without putting down full payment.

seriously, y do u want to spend so much on an exotic? 20 years later (assuming u wont be divorced) will u two look back and go "awww theres that ferrari i rented, boy that was the highlight of the day" plus i dont think ur fiancee would even care, most girls just think a car is a car all they care about on their wedding day is that fat ring on their finger and their slave to be.

Yes there is, it just wasn't offered through the factory. Although it costs an additional 15k US and a trip to Carvagio in Ontario. On this topic the conversion was done exactly to GM specs and you cannot tell what so ever. Unbelievable work.

This is possibly the greatest piece of advise I have ever gotten. Yesterday evening I mentioned that I was having a hard time finding something, anything in the way of fancy. She snapped! Prying a wedding dress into a two seater........no longer an option! By the tone in her voice I had this feeling that this was something I may hear about till I die. The fix!........We have rented a stretch Excursion........I have borrowed 2 2000 c32 one amg and one regular. So far so good. The icing on the cake is that my future wife's uncle (driving in from Saskatoon) builds kit cars.......now I am a little disappointed cause its not the real thing but he has offered to drive one of the kits to Calgary. I suppose a kit ferarri is better than no Ferrari at all. Because of the "kindness" of her uncle Jenn (wifey to be) as agreed to ride (only for a short period) in the two seater. Ahhhh the new year is looking better and better.

Take a Z06 coupe.
Buy all the Corvette Convertible parts from the factory.
Install all the parts.

Voila... factory like Z06 convertible :).

Yeah ZO6's only came as a coupe. It would probably cost double the price of the convertible conversion to do it the opposite way and make a ZO6 out of a convertible C5.

you should just rent a navigator and some color match benzs. The driving force had a them all in silver as we rented them for my sisters wedding and the navi had plenty of room. Not to bad of a price either it was less then 150 for the whole day and it is a comfy ride. There was a company that specialized in renting exotics as i heard it on the radio but i cant remember the name.

You can get modified vehicles (mostly cosmetic) at about the same price as stock stuff elsewhere.

yeah, 310 is what all the rappers use for there music videos. they are damn good at pimping out vehicles.

Well I'm not sure why you're rolling your eyes but.........it's replacement value, and appraisal was at $125k. This car is one of a kind with 530rwhp. I guess that is the type of toy you can afford when you're the president of an oil company. And yes this car is in Calgary, but this car is moderate compared to some of the others we've done.........

Check out some of the shop pics here.

P.S. To the moderators, I don't think Rage2 will mind the links as we help him out when dyno time comes around. ;)

yea. but a TL-S although still a nice car is in no way an exotic.

I test drove the S2000 at the NW honda dealer, nice car, had it for about 80 kms on the HW1, enjoyed the free drive.

Being a male, i'm sure that you can't deny the fact that while you're driving the exotic you won't gun it if some car.......any car were to rev you at a red light.

But if you really want something, call around all the calgary rental places. I remember 2 years ago that there was a company renting out a dodge Viper. But I htink that's as close as you can get to an exotic if you were to rent inside of calgary.

how much to "rent" your rims/r compound tires for one day of solo2? :D

seriously though, i'd like to try tires like that before actually buying them.

How about I give you telemetry readings for my car with street tires vs R compound tires? :)
