2 weeks ago I had my 09 WRX serviced by them (oil change, inspection) as I couldn't book anywhere else on time.

Friday night I decided to drive it after 2 weeks of not driving it (I have a civic as dd), drove from Beddington to downtown no problem, 40 minutes after dinner I head to my car to start it.
Turning the ignition key I hear nothing but silence and none of the lights would light up.

I thought I left my lights on and drained my battery but I was wrong.
I open the hood, gave my engine bay a quick look, check the terminal battery then tried starting the car again. This time it started.
The clock reseted to 1:00 but all radio stations were still there.
No big deal.. maybe it was just a fluke.

Next morning I go to downtown again and decided to use the wrx to make sure it was ok.
It started with no problem.
After work I unlock my car, hop in and turning the ignition key I get a very weak battery and oil light for a few seconds then fades. I open the hood again to check it again. Then tried starting the car and there it goes.

Afternoon, had to go pick up my gf, driving on Deerfoot my car started shaking once I was over 80kmh.
I checked my tires.. no bents.

Today had to go to downtown again and both going and leaving my car wouldn't start up right away.
Both times when I turn the ignition key.. nothing, open the hood, turn the ignition key and the car tries to start for a good 5 seconds before it goes.

My car was serviced at around 42,750km and it's now a little over 42,900km, never touched my car since after the service and I never had any issues with the car until this friday.

My guess is I'm dealing with a dying alternator, bad mounts or wheel balance.. left a voicemail to Subaru Calgary this afternoon and will be giving them another call tomorrow.

It's bad enough that they took 6 hours to do oil change and inspection, that they charged me $25 for a 5 min job to clip a plastic trim on my window or that they scratched my left side trim after I brought my car for a pcv recall last winter but I think at this point I had enough.

Have you checked the battery connections? Bet you one is loose.

You can leave your lights on in a new Subaru, they turn off when you take the key out.

Unrelated. But I had that happen with my old mr2 all the time. It took me two weeks of always having to get a boost before i realized I was an idiot. Bought a new battery and the posts were smaller than the previous one.

To OP whatever it is should be under warranty still. Maybe take it into Centaur.

Worse than the local BMW dealerships? My only question is why the OP owns a WRX but doesn't use it as his daily driver?

:hijack: Sorry to hijack, but can anyone recommend a shop in the NE for Subarus? I've witnessed some stupid shit at Subaru Calgary and all these horror stories I've been hearing lately aren't helping much.

There's that "Subaru Specialist" shop (that's not the name, but that's what's on their sign) just down the street from where Speedtech was. A co-worker used them when he still had his Subie, and had good things to say about them.

Went there once, service was good. Second time I went back and received a higher estimate from Allmakes than Centaur. Allmakes also put my summer wheels in my wagon without bags on them, grease and tire marks all over the trunk :thumbsdow

I put 42,xxx km on my wrx now after only 1 year and 3 months on the lease.
Plus $50 full tank vs $30 on a civic.
Winter I'll start using my wrx more often again.

I think that's the exact issue I'm having as welll, I did notice there was some grease on the battery terminals.
Sorry.. which posts are you referring to that they put plastic around?

I want to try All Makes Subaru Specialties as well.. but I've decided to go with my mechanic of 5 years now, PAZ Automotive for now.

I live in Beddington but I have to go to the field quite often so my car has been all the way as Fort St John, Lloydminster, Lethbridge, Vancouver and also during winter season we go snowboarding on the weekends.

But yeah.. I'll never use my personal vehicle for business trips anymore.

Thanks, I'll give them a shout, although I've heard some bad things about them on WSC.
