So, my landlord would like me to paint the outside of all her window frames as her house is for sale and they look like shit. Right now, she only wants the outside done but the inside could use doing too. Also, the outside definetly needs sanding as the paint is chipping like mad.

First off, the inside and outside will be different colours and I would assume two different kinds of paint.

What kind of paint would I use for the outside?
What kind of paint would I use for the inside?
There are 5 large windows (2 of which have large shutters on each side), 6 small windows, and 3 doors. What do you guys feel would be a fair quote?

Large windows are approx 6 by 4-5 feet.
Small windows are approx 3 by 2 feet.
Doorframes are single door frames.

Im a student and I could use the cash and my landlord is also a friend so im not looking to make a huge profit off this, more or less just help her sell her house while I buy a carbon fiber lip for my car or some Brabus door pins!:D

For just the outside? Or inside too? Also, would you feel that 120 should include cost of materials or should those be extra?

just to give you an idea, we just paid 1200 for the outside and 700 for the inside of ~20 windows

Do you have to sand/scrape every window? Any other repairs needed? I'd charge about $25-$50/small window and $60 and up for large windows, including materials.

120 plus materials. it wont take long to do, and what people charge to paint is out of control.

So you would sand/scrape all the windows, purchase supplies and paint 2 coats (minimum) all for $120??

So Ive got 1200 outside, 700 inside for 20 windows and then 120 for outside and inside for my 11 widows plus 3 doors....:nut:

What have people spent in the past? This will give me a better idea. I agree with Theken that some quotes for home improvement work are ridiculous these days and I am doing this as more a favour than a straight profit making job.

here, this is easy, you already said what you want.

quote her, carbon fiber lip and the pins +cost of materials.

pretty simple here.

If you had all the supplies ladder brushes everything else it shouldn't take more than 3 hours to do. Is your time worth 40 an hour? I payed a guy 400 bucks to paint 1 friggen wall its retarded. I did my entire house and it didn't take fuck all for time or effort. Charge whatever you want essentially. Just saying if she's a friend why fuck her? Unless you are fucking her.

Why not make her buy the materials and then just charge an hourly rate, if you both agree then no one will feel ripped off at the end of the day.

Yea theken, you always have a job with me if you like... outside paint, inside clearcoat varnish. I'll pay $150, supply materials and any needed tools.

$50/frame, $100/door to do both sides. You supply materials.

That sounds far more realistic.

$120... lol... that's a slave labour rate for all of that work. The exterior side of those windows could be a real 'treat' depending on how bad they are.

There's 'painting'... and there's doing it right.
