I figured I would ask here as a lot of you guys seem to have a good idea what the legalaties regarding employment are. There are two things I would like to know regarding stat holidays for salaried employees. First I will preface by saying I work for an oilfield service company that pays field bonus. If we do a job on a stat the customer is billed an additional amount and we receive double bonus.
1) We are not compensated in any way for shop/job prep time on stat holidays. Are we legally able to refuse requests for shop work on stat holidays? Should we be compensated in some way?
2) If we are based in a province where the stat applies but doing work in a province where it is not a stat holiday, we do not charge the customer the additional amount. Should we still be entitled to the double bonus?
